About My Family

My wife, Delores, and I married in 1965 after graduating from Nebraska Christian College. She works very hard to maintain a great home for us. I can't begin to tell you how special she is. She supports my decisions and helps me reach my dreams. She worked to help support us in the beginning. During my first ministry she gave piano lessons, worked in a donut shop, and sold cosmetics. She also gave piano lessons during my second ministry. While we worked with Manhattan Christian College, she worked in a lending institution. She continued to work even after our kids came along. In Colorado, she worked in a college bookstore then became receptionist for a Certified Public Accountant who taught her basic accounting. From then on she worked in an accounting field. She worked as a full-charge bookkeeper in Cincinnati and in various accounting positions with the Boise Cascade Corporation in Boise. She now works in various temporary positions. In the midst of all this, she provided loving care for all of us.
Scott is our oldest. Scott became our son when he was 11 days old--he was our Christmas present in 1969. When we picked him up in Topeka, Kansas, he had a shock of black hair standing straight up. His adoption was finalized just nine months later. We noticed right away that he was a strong willed child. He spent most of his childhood years in Colorado but we spent one winter semester in Cincinnati before moving to Ohio in 1985. He graduated in the top ten percent of his class and was accepted into the United States Air Force Academy. He currently serves in the Air Force. He is now married and he and his wife, Stacy, have given us two grandchildren, Shiloh Sawyer and Eden Joi. This is a photo of the entire family ... Delores, Scott, Eden Joi, Stacy, Shiloh, and Cara. I'm taking the picture.
Cara is the last to leave home. Born in Seoul, Korea, she came here at the age of seven months in 1977. Even though she will soon graduate from Cedarville College, she continues to grace our home with love. Always an affectionate child, she has the ability to make anyone feel special. We have seen her extend kindness to others who were often not accepted by her peers. Cara's hopes to use her marketing degree working with a non-profit organization. She's the one on the right, of course. She's pictured with our son on Gatun Lake in Panama.

So there you have it. One great family. God has been very good to me. He blessed me with a faithful wife and two great kids--kids who have made me very proud.
