CLASS PRAYERS

When the history of the Batch of '94 is written, it will be impossible to miss the influence 'Class Prayers' has had on this class. This weekly activity exerted a quiet, yet unmistakable and powerful flavor, which pervaded almost every activity that the class was involved in.

For many of us, Friday evenings became synonymous with Class Prayers - the weekly exercise which, probably more than anything else, affected our way of thinking, strengthened us, and equipped us to face the challenges of the coming week.

Yet, if this was all that was achieved during Class Prayers, it would have failed in it's most important objective. For many of us, these sessions resulted in changed lives. Some of us heard about consecration and surrender to God for the first time, and, having taken that first step, found in Class Prayers something needed for continual spiritual growth. Here some received their introduction to God, and found in Him life in abundance.

Another wonderful benefit was that bonds of deep fellowship developed among those who attended. We discussed together the difficult problems that we faced individually and as a class, spoke of our own prayer concerns, and prayed together about these problems. Sharing sessions were times when different people spoke on what God was doing in their personal lives, and about what He had been speaking to them personally during the week. Inevitably, fellowship grew. We ended all sessions singing, " Bind us together", a song which speaks of the unity we experience when we have individually come to a life of surrendered obedience to Christ.

We intend to continue meeting during our internship, as often as we can. It is sad to realize that, in a short while, we will be unable to continue any longer. Yet, in a way, I believe, Class Prayers will continue to influence us all our lives. We will often find what we have heard and experienced returning to guide us in our times of need. Praise God for the richness we have tasted! May this simply not go wasted, but instead be a launching pad to a lifelong relationship with God! May we look back and know that God's plans have been accomplished in our lives!
