Bridge Across the Water Assignment
In the Engineering II class, students apply their learning of structures by creating a bridge made from recycled cardboard and some duct tape. Students must literally stand behind(or more accurately ON) their work and cross over a pool of water. If the bridge fails to hold them, they fail. As you can see in the pictures the students have a lot of fun with this learning assignment and some of the teams even pass “with attitude”. This means their bridge can actually hold two or more team members. Structures is just one fun unit in the Engineering II curriculum. Check out what else we do in the curriculum link of this web site.
