PROYECTO NASCA 1982-2007

OFFICIAL CAMP REGULATION - CAHUACHI – EDITION 2007

 In the 2007 Mission will be the partecipation of italian students and university professors and also people of all over the world.

The fieldwork will be organized with:
N. 2 Group-Managers of the works: whith the responsible of the works good executions.
N. 4 Works-Co-ordinators: between Group-Managers and "Quadricola"-Leaders (a "quadricola" is a 25 sq.meters of a excavation sector).
N. 1 Quadricola-Leader for each Sector: responsible of his quadricola, must write an exaustive report of the work.

1. WORKING HOUR
In the first 10 days: 7AM/1PM, 2.30PM/4.30PM
After, if necessary: 6.30AM/1.30PM Fieldwork & 3.00PM/5.30PM of laboratory.

Dealays in the mornig starting-works hour or in the afternoon, if repeated can made possible penalties.

The saturday afternoon will be free. Also sunday will be free for those that have ended the works. Is possible to go out of the Camp in a number of people under the 50% of the total people of the Camp

Also at night is possible go out, but this must not have influence on the next day work. Also, the night re-entry must be respectful of the sleeping people in the Camp. It’s important that everyone that make more-days trip inform the Camp to the destination of the trip.

2. FOOD
The Camp nourishment consist in: vegetables, legumes, cereals, bread or biscuits, pasta, milk, eggs, cheeses, fruit, marmalade, cofee, tea, cacao. Chicken, flesh or fish will be once or twice in the week. Purified water, lemonade, chicha morada, barley-water and apple-water.

Mineral water, pepsi, cola’s, bier and liqueurs are extra, so are to paid as extra.

Nourish hours normally are: 6.00AM Breakfast – 1.00PM dinner – 7.00PM supper. Respect the nourishment hours to respect the people that are workin for the community

The food-store depend from the Direction and it’c daily controlled.

3. SANITARY INSTRUCTIONS
It’s necessary: antitetanic and antityphus. It’s recommended also vaccination against hepatitis A and under medical control. In Nasca there is not malaria. Vaccination in necessary only if people have intention to go in the Amazonian Selva. Everyone must take to the Camp n. 100 pastilles of steridrolo to puryfied water.

Hygienics conditions of the Camp and the surronding area depend from the everyone education.

There is a waste-basket in the Camp. Periodically waste are bringing to the municipal garbage heap. It’s important the conservations of the hygiene and the personal responsibility, cause they are not WC in the Camp.

If necessary, the people of the Camp can be utilized in the cleaning.

Glasses are preferred to contac-lenses, cause the site is windy and there is many dust and sand. Don’t forget a eye-wash.

In the Camp there is a First Aid with basis medicinals. Personal medicinals must be bringing under personal resposible.

It’s strictly forbidden the use of illegal drugs, resposible will be immediatly expelled from the Camp. This could be very dangerous for the professional image of the Project, so the responsible cannot have any help from the Organization.

4. COHABITATION
Everyone must cooperate to this particular situation. It’s important to avoid any racial, cultural, professional, social or health problem.

Also important is communicate any health problem, so it’s possible to be at rest without problem for the community.

The official language is spanish.

5. ORGANIZATION OF THE CAMP
There will be collective and individual tasks.

5.1 Collectives: mountig and removal of the Camp. Hygiene of the Camp and surroundings. Bringing to Nasca of the archaelogical materials. Prepare collective structures. Loading and unloadind of collectives materials (nourishment, water, gasoline). Water loading-emergency.
5.2 Individuals: are necessary:
1 Administration responsible
2 excavations materials responsible
2 technicals materials responsibles
2 kitchen responsibles, and nourishment storage
1 water responsible (quality controls, sterilization, washing bottles)
2 Camp-lighting & generator (from 6.00PM to 10.00PM) responsibles
1 Camp-cleaning resposible & hygienic situation
1 laboratory activity responsible
1 inventory & registration responsible
1 people presence at the Camp responsible
1 collectives equipments responsible (tents, tools)
1 inside Camp waste responsible
1 outside Camp waste
1 responsible to the guard
2 pharmacy responsibles
1 tables-cleaning responsible

Excavations materials & tools will be give from the responsible at the begininng of the work. Everyone is resposible of the materials and the tools that must be to hand back at the end of the Camp.

Nobody can put personal things in the tools & nourish store. Only with the Direction permission is possible put & / or take materials from the stores.

5.3 The guard
If necessary everyone must be involved in guard.

From 10.00PM to 3.30AM will be necessary partecipate to regular guard to the Camp. This is for the social & political situation of Perù.

5.4 Tourists at the Camp
every year we have many tourists at the Camp. So the Director can nominate who that must take a trip with the peoples.

The Director, or a representant, it’s involved in the Authority o cultural & archeological contacts.

6. WORKING METHODOLOGY
Excavation will be made in 5x5 sq.meters sectors calling here "quadricole".

Every Level will be approx. 20cm.

Each sectors component must

- to relief materials, making drawings and photographs "in situ". Archaelogicals findings must be take off from Director or from the Co-ordinator, under permission.

- excavations methodologies must take from Director or from the Co-ordinator, under permission.

- everyone, under the Quadricola-Leader, must record all the data of levels & stratifications.

- at the end of the excavations, every Quadricola-Leader must write an "informe final". For every problem is possible speak with the Director.

- every participant of a quadricola will be responsible of the archaelogical materials storage, catalogation & preparation to the trasportation to the indicated storehose of the Municipalidad of Nasca. Every bag must have Date, name of the responsible, location, sector, quadricola number & level. The classification standard is available at the Camp.

- every participant of a quadricola must write, with the supervision of the Quadricola-Leader, the material schedules.

- every bag with ceramics, must have weigth & must be divided in:

1) Common ceramics (or Cerámica No Diagnóstica) = CND

2) important ceramics (Cerámica Diagnóstica) = CD

3) important painted, decorated or incised ceramics (Cerámica Diagnóstica Pintada) = CDP

More informations are availeble at the Camp in the annual Cronograma de Trabajo.

Every participants must sign a paper of personal responsibility of the work. The Directions have no responsibility with errors make from the people participants to the excavations. Everyone must also sign a personal discharge for the life style at the Camp (accidents, illness, robbery,…)

7. COMMON TOOLS, COSTS & GENERAL INFORMATIONS
Common Tools (kitchenware, glasses, services, basins, excavations tools, writing-materials,…) are not personal.

Personals tools must be kept separately. Water, medecinals and other common materials can not be only personals.

Water is precious. At the Camp is available purified water to drink, oral hygiene and for the kitchen.. Water for any other use (washing, personal hygiene, …) is avalaible at the river, near the Camp.

Everyone must provide to his personal Insurance against illness and accidents (Europe Assistance or similar), leave also 5 kgs. of his luggage to coomon material.

It’s relevant take look that the italian "Proyecto Nasca" it’s a service that must not receive any kind of practical or moral suppot.

Each participant must to contribute to his copletely financing.

  • - At the arrive at the Camp must pay 40EUR
  • Then at his arrival at the Camp in Cahuachi, EUR 500 for the Mission expenses.
  • He must also pay when leave the Camp EUR 300 (for one month) for the daily expenses (nourishment, gasoline, payment of the woman cook,…).

All the money is to consider to sink money, independently from the numbers of permanace at the Camp.

It’s strictly forbidden, in accord to the peruan laws, to take away precolumbian, colonial or republican materials. The Director is responsible (civil and penally) of the actions of the people of the Camp. He must denuonce to the Autority any irregularity.

Every partecipant must delivery the report of his excavations at the Director. This material can be reproduced partially or entirely to write the "Informe preliminar" or the final by the excavations Director.

The use of the excavations report is in accord with the Director of the excavations. In this case he must indicate the origins of the informations.

Before the Directors publication it’s forbidden the use of the informations.

Forbidden also the publications of the results in pubblic conferences.
