Introduction
Cal began his magnificent career with the Baltimore Orioles in 1982. Cal was a supplemental first-round draft choice of the Orioles in the June draft, 1978. The Orioles were planning on using Cal as a pitcher. His father Cal Ripken, Sr. was the third base coach for the Orioles as Cal embarked upon his professional career.
Today Cal is regarded as one of the best infielders in the game. His progression during his minor league career as a hitter changed the Oriole plan. Cal Ripken, Jr. is a bonified superstar at the major league level. He set a record in 1995 that will stand for all time: 2,131 consecutive games played.......................................
