Halliburton was sponsoring an SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) Evening on 6th November 1997. This was the third dinner and lecture function organised by SPE Brunei. The function was held at the Nories Function Room, SKBB Plaza in Kuala Belait. It started at 7.15 p.m. A brief introductory speech was delivered by the SPE Brunei Section Secretary Pg. Hj. Yasmin Pg. Hj. Mohamad.
For the benefit of the new members, Pg. Hj. Yasmin reiterated the mission of SPE which is to collect, store and disseminate knowledge/technology the members need in oil and gas industries which at present are undergoing rapid and radical changes. With this in mind, SPE Brunei has been active in pursuing this mission and has lined up many SPE evenings like this in the future. Based on this he mentioned that SPE Brunei Section has introduced its homepage in the internet. This is another milestone which the society has achieved to disseminate/communicate information to its members and the whole world.
In October this year SPE Brunei has made a historic milestone : The SPE Brunei Vice Chairman, Hj. Zainal Abidin Hj. Md. Ali and Pg. Hj. Yasmin represented the SPE Brunei at the Worldwide Workshop for SPE Section Officiers in San Antonia, Texas, USA which was attended by more that 10,000 participants. The attandence by SPE Brunei representatives was sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum.
Pg. Hj. Yasmin was thankful to the supports given by the members, sponsors, government, various companies/contractors, other NGO's and the organising committee in the successful evening. It was attended by more than 50 professionals from various sectors like BSP, Halliburton, HMM, Schlumberger, Petrojaya, Petrokon, Sperry-sun, Cebar, Dowell, etc.
After a good and delicious dinner, Jim Reynolds from HalliburtonWorldwide gave an interesting presentation on "Partnering and Alliances : Integrated Solution" is one of the key success factors in todays business especially in the very high growth area like the South East Asian Region. A lively discussion and exchange of ideas were generated after the presentation.
