"Stacked Template Structures " Sponsored by Fletcher Challenge

Fletcher Challenge Energy was sponsoring an SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) Evening on 2nd September 1997. This was the second dinner and lecture function organised by SPE Brunei. The function was held at the Brunei Hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan. It started at 7.00 p.m. A brief introductory speech was delivered by the SPE Brunei Section Secretary Hj. Mohd. Yussof Hj. Mat Don. In his speech Hj. Mohd. Yussof mentioned that Brunei Section membership has increased by 15% since the inauguration of the society last September. The new members are mainly Brunei engineers.

For the benefit of the new members, Hj. Mohd. Yussof reiterated the mission of SPE which is to collect, store and disseminate knowledge/technology the members need in oil and gas industries which at present are undergoing rapid and radical changes. With this in mind, SPE Brunei has been active in pursuing this mission and has lined up SPE distinguished lecture series until May next year. Further more, SPE Brunei Homepage will be introduced on the internet in order to expand the reach to all members and the world.

Hj. Mohd. Yussof was thankful to the supports given by the members, sponsors, government, various companies/contractors, other NGO's and the organising committee in the success of the evening. It was attended by more than 50 professionals. After a delicious dinner, Mike Sprawl from Union Oil Company (UNOCAL) gave an interesting and lively presentation on "Stacked Template Structures" which have been successfully used for small fields in Kalimantan operations. Without these latest designs the fields would have remained uneconomics. A lot of discussions and exchanges of ideas were generated after the presentation.
