Water shortage is still a crucial issues in many area in Thailand especially for the rural area which mainly rely on groundwater consumption. The socioeconomical and industrial development recently gave impacts on groundwater exploitation and caused the decrease in groundwater table in many areas. Groundwater Recharge Scheme becomes another option to be considered to mitigate the groundwater table drawdown in the long term planning
The paper gives the
present status of groundwater recharge developments reviewed from various
studies. The information on experimental field data, recharge rate, and
problems encountered are also summarized. Basic experiments were conducted
to analyse the relationship of recharge rate and grainsize distribution.
Grain size and groundwater table were found to affect the recharge rate
and groundwater table profile during recharge. The experimental results
were then compared and discussed with the field experimental data done
in Kamphaeng Phet Province during 1995 to 1997. Some recommendation for
further studies on recharge process, design and maintenance will be summarized.
