Welcome to Geology Department.

The Department of Geology was the first of its kind to be established on Thailand,offerring the B.Sc. Degree for science students. At present, the Department extends its service to postgraduate study at M.Sc. level. The Department is equipped with laboratories and equipment for mineralogy, geochemistry, paleontology, petrography and photogeology. Other facilities for self-learning are available, such as a geology library, museum, map and aerial photo room. A number of geological research projects are actively undertaken by the staff members and students. Examples are a geological assessment of the potential of rare-earth-bearing mineral resources in Thailand; the relationship between fracture lineaments and mineralization; a comparative study of the Chao Phraya and the Mekong deltas, land conditions and historical development. Technical services and assistance are also extended to the public, such as identification and analyses of minerals, rock and water samples, identification of fossils, geological field mapping, etc. Job opportunities for geology graduates are widely available in many government agencies, state enterprises and the private sector, namely, the Department of Mineral Resources, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the lrrigation Department and oil and mining companies.
