Psalm 25
[A Psalm] of David
David's confidence in prayer Psalm 25.1-15
Unto You, O Yhwh, do I bring my life.
2
O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You. Let me not be put to shame or [my hope in You] be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me.3
Yes, let none who trust and wait hopefully and look for You be put to shame or be disappointed; let them be ashamed who forsake the right or deal treacherously without cause.4
Show me Your ways, O Yhwh; teach me Your paths.5
Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You [You only and altogether] do I wait [expectantly] all the day long.6
Remember, O Yhwh, Your tender mercy and loving-kindness; for they have been ever from of old.7
Remember not the sins (the lapses and frailties) of my youth or my transgressions; according to Your mercy and steadfast love remember me, for Your goodness' sake, O Yhwh.8
Good and upright is Yhwh; therefore will He instruct sinners in [His] way.9
He leads the humble in what is right, and the humble He teaches His way.10
All the paths of Yhwh are mercy and steadfast love, even truth and faithfulness are they for those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.11
For Your name's sake, O Yhwh, pardon my iniquity and my guilt, for [they are] great.12
Who is the man who reverently fears and worships Yhwh? Him shall He teach in the way that he should choose.13
He himself shall dwell at ease, and his offspring shall inherit the land.14
The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of Yhwh have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning. [John 7.17; 15.15]15
My eyes are ever toward Yhwh, for He will pluck my feet out of the net.He prays for help in affliction Psalm 25.16-22
16
[Yhwh] turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.17
The troubles of my heart are multiplied; bring me out of my distresses.18
Behold my affliction and my pain and forgive all my sins [of thinking and doing].19
Consider my enemies, for they abound; they hate me with cruel hatred.20
O keep me, Yhwh, and deliver me; let me not be ashamed or disappointed, for my trust and my refuge are in You.21
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for and expect You.22
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all their troubles.
Psalm 26
[A Psalm] of David
David, in confidence of his integrity, resorts to God Psalm 26.1-7
Vindicate me, O Yhwh, for I have walked in my integrity; I have [expectantly] trusted in, leaned on, and relied on Yhwh without wavering and I shall not slide.
2
Examine me, O Yhwh, and prove me; test my heart and my mind.3
For Your loving-kindness is before my eyes, and I have walked in Your truth [faithfully].4
I do not sit with false persons, nor fellowship with pretenders;5
I hate the company of evildoers and will not sit with the wicked.6
I will wash my hands in innocence, and to about Your alter, O Yhwh,7
that I may make the voice of thanksgiving heard and may tell of all Your wondrous works. His love to God's house Psalm 26.8-12
8
Yhwh, I love the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your glory dwells.9
Gather me not with sinners and sweep me not away [with them], nor my life with bloodthirsty men,10
in whose hands is wickedness, and their right hands are full of bribes.11
But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; redeem me and be merciful and gracious to me.12
My foot stands on an even place; in the congregations will I bless Yhwh.
Psalm 27
[A Psalm] of David
David sustains his faith by the power of God Psalm 27.1-14
Yhwh is my Light and my Salvation - whom shall I fear or dread? Yhwh is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?
2
When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.3
Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, [even them] in this will I be confident.4
One thing have I asked of Yhwh, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of Yhwh [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [sweet attractiveness and the delightful liveliness] of Yhwh and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple. [Ps 16.11; 18.6; 65.4; Luke 2.37]5
For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.6
And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to Yhwh.7
Hear, O Yhwh, when I cry aloud; have mercy and be gracious to me and answer me!8
You have said, "Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]." Me heart says to You, "Your face (Your presence), Yhwh, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word]."9
Hide not Your face from me.Turn not Your servant away in anger, You Who have been my help! Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation!
10
Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet Yhwh will take me up [adopt me as His child]. [Ps 22.10]11
Teach me Your way, O Yhwh, and lead me in a plain and even path because of my enemies [those who lie in wait for me].12
Give me not up to the will of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me; they breathe out cruelty and violence. (Ps 35.11)13
[What, what would have become of me] had I now believed that I would see Yhwh's goodness in the land of the living!14
Wait and hope for and expect Yhwh; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect Yhwh.
