The Amplified Bible - Job

[ Amplified | Introduction | Outline | Chapters ]

THE BOOK OF

JOB

Introduction: The name of this book is derived from its chief character, Job. Neither the time when Job lived nor the date of the composition of this book nor the author can be determined with any certainty. Some of the language used in the book comes from the second millenium B.C. (2000-1000), while other words date from the period of the kings. Most likely the story of Job is an ancient story (with its setting perhaps late in the second millenium) that was put into its present written from around the time of Solomon.
