Accommodation: Those not staying with Friends/Relatives are welcome to stay at the Organizing committee members' residences. Calgary is well know for its warm hospitality: the committee members have indicated that they are no exception and are more than happy to accommodate ndugus and their families. The other alternative for those wanting something else, we suggest one hotel coordinated through Shaffic Damji or ndugus can make their own reservations. Please let us know ASAP what your plans are.
We have arranged the following:
Stampeder Inn
This is approx. $47 US or 28 English Pounds per night
I suggest those looking to stay at the hotel make reservations as ASAP |
Travel arrangements: You should consider spending some days in and around Calgary. There are lots of sights to visit and things to do. Depending upon the extra time you have, you should consider visiting Banff, Lake Louise, Columbia Icefields, Jasper, Edmonton, Waterton, Banff National Park, Glacier National Park, Okanagan Valley, Yellowstone National Park, etc. - this is just a sample!
Registration Fee:We would appreciate receiving $100 can. per adult and $50 per child no later than May 31st, 1998. Payment to be made to "Rustam Kassam in trust". We all have to understand that the committee has to make commitments for venues now (or in some cases has already made commitments) - for the busy summer season. Also, for those who have not completed their registration form, please do so as we not only require your info, but also your spouse name and children's' ages and names. This will really help in planning extra events for the children. We need to firm up our numbers - please help us do this ASAP.
Subsidy: Our projections indicate that the reunion is going to cost more than the fees collected. The Calgary committee has kindly agreed to subsidize this event.
Memories: We are in the process of collecting pictures and memorabilia from the school or jeshi days. Does anyone remember what the school emblem looked like - or have the emblem - or did we have one at all? Please - Please help us so we can put a great multi-media presentation. Maher Gulamhussein is in charge of this and will be more than glad to accept your generous contributions. You may want to consider sending him copies and keeping the originals, or scanning and e-mailing.
Brochure: We are in the process of collecting a family picture for each student/teacher that will go into a brochure. This will have everyone's family pictures and certain information on each student/teacher to take back home. Please send your family picture to Maher. We will advise you soon on what other info is also required.
Invitation to others: The committee has addressed this issue in light of the demand by others to join in. We feel that in light of the purpose of the reunion (and the closeness that we would all like to feel) during this get-together, this would be defeated if other than the ndugus and teachers and their families were allowed to participate.
Ndugus not contacted/uncommitted: Any help in pursuing this would be greatly appreciated. Please help us in contacting and persuading them or those who have not decided to come - to come!
