Dear Ndugus:
Some 30 years ago (1968) approximately 150 young men wrote their "O" levels and moved on to explore and conquer the world as adults. Some stayed in Tanzania and others left for places like the UK, U.S.A., Canada, USSR, Europe etc. to pursue life's different roads. Career challenges and other important issues transplanted us to different places but we never lost one important thing - the friendship we cultivated through our adolescence.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the class of '68 (AgaKhan Boys Secondary School, Dar-es-salaam), there has been an initiation in Calgary to have a reunion from August 7th to 9th, 1998 (inclusive) to be hosted in the Stampede City (the city that hosts "the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth"). The invitation is open to all the classmates who wrote their "O" Levels in 1968 and their families. The invitations are also being extended to all the teachers, who mentored us from Grade 7 to Grade 12 and their respective families.
To organize this Gala event, a committee has been formed in Calgary. One of the committee's initial task is to compile a list of names, addresses and other pertinent information on these individuals who would like to participate in this unforgettable reunion event. Various social events and other activities including a Grand dinner and dance are being planned.
We have compiled a preliminary list with our fading memories. And fading it is, since we only managed to come up with 60 odd names out of the 150 plus students. Some of you are probably aware of the "missing names" and we need your assistance in contacting as many students as possible. We would appreciate if you could provide us with any such information relating to the whereabouts of other students or teachers so that we may contact them and let them know of this reunion. We would also appreciate if you could please distribute a copy of this information letter to any such classmates of 1968.
