Contraceptive advice is available from all doctors during routin surgeries. A normal appointment should be made. These clinics are held on Wednesdays from 12.00 noon when the Health Visitor is also available. NO APPOINTMENT is necessary. All women aged 21-60 years are offered a smear test every three years. Appointments for cervical smear tests can be arranged by contacting the Appoinments Desk. Please mention when you telephone that the appointment is for a smear test. Breast examination and a health check are usually included. This is held on the FIRST WEDNESDAY of each month at 12.00 noon. Appointments will be sent to you by post. If you are unable to attend at the given time, please contact your Health Visitor or Doctor for further advice and another appointment. Please contact the surgery if you have not received an appointment by the time your baby is 4 months old. There are now very few reasons why your child should not be immunised so please make sure your children receive all their injections and oral polio drops. Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough, HIB Vaccine and Oral Polio 1st dose - Age 2 months / 2nd dose - Age 3 months / 3rd dose - Age 4 months Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) single dose at age 12-14 months Pre-school booster : Diphtheria, Tetanus, Oral Polio plus MMR booster at age 4-5 years. Routine Child Health Surveillence is carried out by the doctor and the Health Visitor. Checks are performed at 6 WEEKS, 8 MONTHS and 4-5 YEARS. This is by appointment.
TETANUS BOOSTER RECOMMENDED EVERY 10 YEARS IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN FULLY IMMUNISED OR YOUR IMMUNITY HAS LAPSED - PLEASE MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE PRACTICE NURSE. Children :

15-18 years Booster Tetanus and Polio. This is performed at the surgery by some of the doctors. Various problems can be treated, such a injection of painful joints, removal of skin lesions and treatment of warts. this may save a patient the inconvenience of being referred to the hospital. These clincs are organised by our Practice Nurse under our supervision. Every patient is entitled to a health check with our Practice Nurse if they have been seen at the surgery for at least three years. This check takes about twenty minutes and is an opportunity for you to discuss your general health and be examined to ensure you are in good health. Asthma / Diabetic / Hypertension Clinics by appointment Elderly Screening every year patients of 75 years and over will be invited to be seen by a member of the practice team, i.e. the Practice Nurse or Health Visitor if they have not been seen in the past year. You may attend the surgery for this by making an appointment, or a home visit can be arranged if required. |
