The Texas Academy of Leadership in the Humanities

History of TALH Symbols

The first version of the TALH symbol only used on the first TALH Newsletter. Originally the symbol only stood for Texas Academy (as shown underneath) and the LU, for Lamar, was replaced with LH for Leadership in the Humanities. This was also used on the first brochure.

Second version of the original TALH symbol used on TALH Newsletters

Original use of the Globe symbol on fliers (from early on) and Academy T-Shirts in 1996

Painted on the A-Wing door of the original dorm academy students occupied, Gentry. Painted by Valeri Leige, in the Spring of 1996, it contains many academic symbols for knowledge and continuing education. Housing ordered the door be re-painted white soon after the door was finished, however with Faculty, Staff, and Academy support at a protest, the crest still exists on the A-Wing door.

This is a drawing (similar to the door above) also done by Valerie, was used in the 'yearbook', for the 1996 graduating seniors.

This patch was used on the Charter Class of 1996's graduation sashes.

This version is a cleaned up version of the second version of the original symbol, also including the LU-star in the center. And was created by myself, Ericka Norman. It was used on the TALH 1996-1997 Yearbook.

Fall 1998 TALH symbol. From the TALH homepage, re-drawn by Chris Heintzelman.

Symbol created in 2000? for TALH.
