Morgan the Music Mogul Man Part II Feburary 20, 1997 By Morgan Carlson |

Alright, fuck this artistic shit. It's
the business route for me to get some cheap musical publicity. I'm forming my own record company - hell, all you guys can. Go to www.billboard.com and join the Billboard Challenge! You make your own little record company and pick ten albums from the charts, and you see how good you are at picking hot sellers. Right now, my company - No Pants Required Records - is kinda flailing. Bob Dylan... seemed like a good idea at the time. And GP Wu, a Staten Island rap group best known for being allowed to be in the same studio as the Wu-Tang, haven't exactly broken out as planned. (They got me - and this is at last check - 0 points. Shit, even the Foo Fighters got me something.) Well, maybe I'm losing now (I'm number 500 out of 947 - I'm losing to a guy with a company called Rogie Records - ugh), but come Grammy time, No Pants Required Records will be taking charge. Oh, how they laughed when I picked Paula Cole, Fiona Apple, Radiohead..... but once they start bringing home those little trophies, sales will skyrocket. (Hmm.... was GP Wu nominated, by any chance?) So come play.... it's fun, and it's free. - Morgan - |
