Fluid mechanics theories
& their relation/application
to other fields
( Chaos, Order & Disorder, Fractals,
Finance )
Fluids surround us, and we are made of the fluids. That is well known
fact. Fluid Mechanics science offers mathematical and numerical models,
which describes the phenomena related to static, and dynamics of various
fluids in different environments.
However, application of knowledge consolidated in fluid mechanics,
is not necessarily limited by the physical boundaries of the fluid systems.
Many mathematical methods used in other areas of interest were first found
and implemented in fluid mechanics. More and more lately, it has been found
that for many every – day – life events and responses, we can actually
draw a parallel with some phenomena's occurring in fluid mechanics.
Starting from obvious materialistic analogy, say for an example; a road
stream of moving vehicles – observed from the distance undoubtedly remind
of the fluid particles in the channel flow (and hence resulted in series
of fluid - like traffic models). And than say, the ones invisible to bare
eye such as; price changes in the share market. Even by listening to politicians
(not that I recommend this dangerous exercise) we can hear new/modern phrases
which came out directly from fluid mechanics.
Consequently, different episodes which occur in fluids in different
circumstances, contribute to development and understanding of the chaos,
and fractals; finding new ways, and views; comprehending incomprehensible
in, medicine, ecology, economy, geography…and so on.
Cascade energy transmittal from large to small vortices in turbulence
(interaction only between vortices of incomparable dimensions) is very
similar to classic applications of fractals. One of the analogies is formation
of the water flows of fractal type almost exactly (say arial view of the
great Amazon River), or lungs, and circulatory system in mammals/humans.
The list - is long.
