Custom Kitchen Chopper: This knife was a custom made by Mel for Bladeforums member Howard Wallace. It uses 1/8" thick 440C stainless steel stock which is flat ground. The handle scales are cocobolo with mosaic pins.
Custom Kithcen Chopper: Another view of this unique kitchen knife. The entire knife will fit in a rectangle that is 9.5" by 4.5".
Persian Fighter: The Persian Fighter "pattern" was a very popular Madpoet offering. This one in particular has a 5" long 440C blade with redwood burl scales. The bolsters are kingwood.
Three more popular Madpoet knives: The top one is a Persian Fighter with a 4.5" D-2 blade and ironwood scales. The second is a Medium Skinner with desert ironwood scales and a 5" D-2 blade, while the last knife pictured here is another Persian Fighter. It has a 5" 440C blade and light mesquite handles.
Pocket Bowie: Another small Madpoet bowie! This knife has bocote scales and a 4" D-1 blade.
Wharncliffe Splinter Picker: Mel was not immune to the trends of the knife industry, as seen in this popular Wharncliffe pattern. This one has a 3.75" D-2 blade and cocobolo scales. The thong hole, somewhat of a rarity on Madpoet knives, is lined by stainless steel tubing.
Various Hunting Knives: The top knife is a Trailing Point Hunter with 5" blade of D-2. Its scales are of goncalo alves wood. This knife is a rarity in that it features a convex grind, rather than Mel's usual flat grind! The second knife featured here is a Medium Skinner with kingwood scales and a 4.5" 440C blade.
Chubby Skinner: a neat little knife, this skinner has a 4" 440C blade and beautiful kingwood scales.
Persian Fighter: 4.5" 440C blade with desert ironwood handles.
Sheaths: Mel made superb leather sheaths. The top one is his "swinger" style which made any size belt knife incredibly comfy to wear, while the bottom one is the standard pouch style sheath.
