Dear Ms. Gignac and President Likins.
I am a physician/scientist/attorney working in Torts and Contracts. I have known Professor Marguerite Kay since she was a medical student at the University of California at San Francisco. I have followed her stellar career over the past 27 years and have the highest regard for her honesty, integrity, morality, intelligence, and diligence.
I have never known Professor Kay to misinterpret or falsify anything. She is the pillar of integrity and should be a role model, not a scape goat, for the University of Arizona. I view her persecution at the hands of your university as the product of two pernicious forces in our society, sexism and ageism.
Professor Kay is a highly successful women. There are forces in our society that wish to quash these individuals in order to maintain servitude amongst females. Professor Kay is one of the world's leaders in the basic biology of aging. There are forces in our society that consider the elderly a burden upon whom only limited resources should be expended. It appears that these forces have combined to create a lynch mob against Professor Kay.
Be advised that I intend to offer my legal/scientific guidance, Pro Bono, to Professor Kay should she need my representation. An institution that can so glibly trample on the constitutional and contract rights of a citizen while subjecting her [to] public defamation must be held accountable. I am confident that the discovery phase of this litigation will uncover a great deal of embarrassing facts about the administration of the University of Arizona. Rest assured that these facts will see the light of public scrutiny.
