How It All Began


The concept of a Cheer Bear was created in 1996 as a fund raiser for our daughters' competition teams. Both teams were going to Florida for the AmeriCheer competition at Disney, consequently, the cheerleaders and parents had to raise over $30,000. We were both on the fund raising committee.

At one of the meetings, Judi said she had access to a few hundred bears and would we be able to use them. I designed the cheering outfits and we sold them at a competition hosted by our teams . The Cheer Bear was a huge success, and helped pay for some of the trip expenses. Florida was also a great success, each team came home with a third place trophy.

That was the last year we shared the excitement of the sport as the girls graduated high school. After 30 years of cheering between us, we missed the excitement of competing. So we decided that maybe the cheerleaders would be interested in our bears and began to sell them at craft shows. Soon after, we were invited to attend competitions, where we donate to the hosting team a percentage of the sales. And I guess that brings us to the present. Because we are not able to travel all over the country, what better way to bring these adorable bears to cheerleaders throughout the nation than over the internet.
