My Palm Computer
I'm just finishing up college and noticed the palm computers
on the market. I must say I was a bit worried at first about spending
the money, but it was well worthwhile. I just got a 3com palm IIIe
and I love it.
Some of the things I like:
-
Balanced my checking account -- and because I always have
my IIIe with me it's easy to enter everything in it as I make the transaction,
including ATM stuff.
-
Keep track of my assignments -- although I wish for a better
program to keep track of them than the to do list, it's functional.
-
The address book -- what can I say, it's so much better than
my old address book.
-
Games -- and I thought it was addictive to have solitaire
and minesweeper on my computer at home.
-
MobileDB lite -- I have not yet begun to explore this facet,
but being an MIS major I can see some promise
-
Reading documents -- I originally downloaded AportisDoc,
but I found CSpotRun instead which I like better. It's so much easier
to carry the Palm IIIe around than a book and it reads easy.
Some shortfalls I've noticed so far (in no particular order):
-
IIIe specifically -- no expandability of memory. However,
must mention that I knew this when I bought it.
-
Students -- I noticed the release of the special edition
IIIe just after I got mine. I don't particularly want the special
edition, but I think they could do more in the way of free software for
students. While I'd love to write the software myself, I don't have
the time due to work and school **note: I spent all my extra money on getting
the computer.
Well, I'm writing this quickly just to get something started,
but I will be adding links and such later. There is so much out there
to keep up with and the future is looking bright.
