Weekly Class Setup
Every other Monday, a sheet of vocabulary terms will be handed out. You will be tested on vocabulary every Wednesday. Every Friday, there will be a test. The Monday following a test you will be allowed to correct your test using your notes and book only. Then on Thursday we will go over the test as a class. Everyday, except Friday, we will be working on one lesson.

Class Assignments
There will be an assignment every day. Every assignment will be taken for a grade. I do not accept late work. If you do not turnin thr assignment in on time, you will get a 0. Be sure to put your name on the paper. If it is not on the paper, it will be thrown away. All work must be shown to receive full credit. When absent you are expected to get the missed assignment from the teacher or another students and to copy the notes from another student. You are responsible for picking up your graded homework, recording the grade in your grade sheet, and placing the assignment in your binder where it belongs.

Binders
There are eight sections in your binders. Do not change the order unless I tell you to do so. The first section in the binder is your grade sheet. You are to keep track of your grade with this sheet. Every Friday, I will announce the class total points possible so that you can be sure you have everything written down. The second section is this syllabus. The third section is the ISTEP information sheet (there may be times where you are allowed to use this sheet on the tests). Do not write on this sheet. The fourth section is for notes that we will be taking daily. You do not need to use a different sheet of paper each day. However, you do need to put the date and lesson in the left hand column for each day. The fifth section is for definitions. When we fill in a definition on the handouts, you need to put the lesson in which the definition came from. The sixth section is for ISTEP work that we be done throughout the year. The seventh section is for tests and quizzes. The eighth section is for graded homework. Binders will be collected at the end of each semester for a grade. It would be wise to not wait until the end of the semester to get this binder in order, work on it throughout the semester.

Tests and Quizzes
As mentioned before, tests will be given every Friday. If you are absent on a Friday, you will take the test on Monday, or the next day you are back. The same goes for vocabulary tests on Wednesday. The tests on Friday will be open questions i.e. problems that you will need to simplify or solve. The tests on Wednesday will be multiple choice, fill in the blank, and true or false questions. There will be a department final given at the end of the year, as well as the Purdue test, and Core 40 test that will be taken for a grade.

Calculators
If you have a calculator, please bring it and use it. If you do not have a calculator, there are some that are available for class use only. These calculators are not to leave the classroom for any reason.

Grading
Your grade will be on a points basis. To figure your grade add up your points and divide by the number of points possible added up. Letter grades are determined by the normal 90, 80, 70, 60 mark.

Extra Help
Extra help is readily available. There is tutoring for an hour right after school Monday thru Friday in the IMC. Different teachers will be available different days. I will be available in the morning before school. If neither of these work, let me know and we can arrange a different time.

Student Expectations

  1. You are to follow directions the first time they are given
  2. You are to bring all required materials to class

On the second infraction, you will write one hundred sentences and a phone call to home will be made. On the third and successive infractions, you will be referred to the dean.

Restroom Usage
You will be given two emergency restroom passes a nine weeks. If you choose not to use them you can turn them in for extra credit. Each is worth five points. When you have used these, please do not ask for any other restroom passes unless you are going to get sick.

Pencils
If you forget a writing utensil, you may purchase one from me for ten cents.
