Darkwave & Gothic in Mexico
(Story by El Monje)

The end of dark world seemed to be near, because there was no force to prevent it dissolved in everyday world instead of be integrated to it. No force to prevent cannibalism that had infected darkwave & gothic and it's promoting its own destruction, and even, no force to prevent it's completely absorbed by raging media, which works for domination, anxious to see the defeat of the night creatures, but they answered with creativity and are still trying to save the essence of the movement.

It was that night when he listened to this sound for the very first time with his ear against the floor of his confinement. It was a sound different to any other he has listened to before, it was a sound a little aggressive, too melancholic, chaotic and so beautiful that immediately captivated him. He didn't know what it was but decided to get into the world it came from. That night, his confinement was closed, so, exploration must wait for a better time.

Time for exploration came and he took it with no hesitation. It was a night lighted by moon, which was so brilliant, however, sound was so clear that there's no need of light for arriving to the place where those captivating notes came from. He arrived to that site and contemplated the sound vault.

It was a peaceful place, it seemed small but there were many people inside, there was a man at the centre that explained what was being listened, while the others expressed their points of view or commented about sounds they wished to listen to. He felt like being in witches' Sabbath; then he noticed the man at the centre took a book and started to read small passages. Those lines seemed to be synchronised to the sounds, and both, lines and sounds, produced him the feeling of exploring more and more their subjects, because in a certain way, they were known but, they enclosed more questions than those that can be answered. Time passed so fast that he assimilated the end of this meeting in a bad way, but then, he realised that these meetings were periodical and decided to go there whenever he could.

He started to know more about subjects surrounding the cultural movement presented by these sounds and readings. Introspection, mysticism, balance and human nature were some of these subjects. He also wanted to get more information and make some friends between people who participated in this movement, but he was rejected because they considered he was inferior, his poor knowledge was so little for all their wisdom. After this, he decided to remain in confinement and not to get close to any of these people that were culturally superior. He continued in confinement until he noticed there were people open for sharing knowledge, experiences and doubts. This was thanks to a close childhood friend that was also in the darkwave.

Time had passed, now, there was not only one sound vault, but there was a new one with a higher scope, which had exposed darkwave & gothic putting it to the reach of many people. There also came to the kingdom people from different places who were interest in help growing this movement.

Then, he noticed how darkwave & gothic was in fashion, everywhere he saw people in black, dressing "The Crow" T-shirts, saw many noon vampires and listened how radio seized music. However, he sadly saw how people involucrate in this movement didn't take advantage of this situation, and even some of them considered all these new "followers" as inferior people instead of share knowledge about the subject for giving them the opportunity to decide. This was, undoubtedly, an enormous lost for everybody.

Nowadays, he observes the barriers getting bigger and bigger, barriers built for people "interested" in darkwave & gothic, he observes a whole culture getting lost because of their pride, because of the dogmas that make them be isolated and don't let them share their knowledge. Because of that aberration of making idols instead of practising ideas, because of the pretension of being superior based on a pathetic right of seniority or based on a look inherited from media. But in spite of all those things, there are many people trying to save the essence of this culture. Perhaps this reaction will rescue Darkwave & gothic.
