How did I create this page?

*Definition for W.W.W.

*Definition for HTML and an Example

1. Outline:
There are three pages in my home page. As , I constructed all three pages in the same way I will mention only the first page construction. I sketched an outline in a paper and located every object I supposed to have in my page. The top portion of my page contains the name of my home page in the first column, then a devider line in the second flag of my home country in the second column and two greetings in sinhala language and a in english in the following columns. After those two columns I put an image of a lion in the following column. Then I created links to other web sites to the following pages;

[1] To my second page of the site .
[2] To my university [wsu] home page.
[3] To my high school home page.
[4] To DS495 home page.
[5] To my third page of the site [which is this one ]
[6] To my country’s home page.

In order to provide more convenience for every visitor who are willing to write me an e-mail and give comments about the site the last portion contains a link to my e-mail and two sentences to thank them for visiting my home page and also a guest book to sign. There are some images of the "golden beach of my country [Sri Lanka]" and also a line of national flags.

2. Construction:
I used the HTML provided by the geocities as well as HTML written by hand .HTML is a script language which is used to create or construct web pages and my web page is an example for the HTML. To upload files I used the HTML provided by the geocities and to create links and for the text I wrote some HTML documents. Using the HTML provided by the geocities was always easy to upload files and edit them. In fact I wrote the HTML for the links and the text on the files named as Index. HTML , page2.HTML and page3.HTML of my home page in geocities. All the HTML documents I wrote are coded as HTML version 3.0, so the appropriate browser should be Netscape Navigator 2.0 or higher or Internet explorer. Other than the above three files I uploaded all the other files. What I did was I got the images from certain web sites and saved them to hard disk and browsed them through the file manager and uploaded. Then I did all the editing to my index .html . In my introduction about me in the second page I created links to every word which relates to my main links and also I put an image of me at the begining of the page.
Also I created links at the bottom of every additional page to my home page.The counter appears in the front page is provided by Link Exchange [LE] and I got that on my page by following the instructions provided by them and the guest book was created with the help of guestbook.net. In creating this I copied some HTML from their page and pasted on my index.html.

3. Host:
Out of the two well-known host sites on the net I chose Geocities to host my site, which provide disk space for personal homepages. I must say that it was hard to find a vacancy in the College Park but I found vacancy CollegePark/Classroom. After registration to geocities, I received my login name and password shortly via e-mail. My personal web directory was built at the url of http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Classroom/5424/, so I started uploading all my files to geocities. With its friendly user-interface, it helped me to upload all my files easy.

4. Add URL:
It is the last process I did. There are a lot of powerful search engines, such as Yahoo, AltaVista, Excite, Infoseek ,Hobot or Lycos. All of them provide a great deal for many people or businesses that are willing to have their names and advertisements appeared worldwide on the Internet search index. I added my URL, http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Classroom/5424 into Altavista and Hot bot search engines. It approximately takes a couple weeks to have my URL in, completely. However, Altavisata was pretty fast to admit my hompage. If you want to search me from that search engines, you just enter "ajithwije’s Home page". So far my site will be the only search result which will appear on Altavista when you type the above phrase.
