Now that you have your account on GeoCities, you'll want to get started on your page! If you don't work on your homepage within two weeks of setting up your account, the page will be deleted. There are some specific qualifications for moving in, but what you need to do in general is to make some changes to your index file and create or upload at least one other file.
To get to your files, you'll need your member name and password that were sent to you in your welcoming letter from GeoCities. If you need the password again, visit the password lookup page . Next you'll need to log in to the members area of GeoCities. Once you have logged in, there will be a number of options available to you. To work on your page you will need to either use GeoBuilder or the File Manager. Links to both are found on the members page. GeoBuilder is a Java based, point and click sort of editor. It is still in a testing phase and has very little help available if you run into problems. It can be useful to people who don't know HTML and want to put up a simple page before learning HTML. The File Manager contains several editors for you to choose from. Some require little or no knowledge of HTML and the Advanced Editor requires you to write the HTML code for the entire page. It's not as hard as it sounds! HTML is actually pretty easy to learn and use.
