(1) Rurik, Prince of Kiev, born 800. Died 879. Married Edvina and had son Igor. (2) Igor I, Prince of Kiev, born 875, murdered 945. Son of Rurik and Edvina. Married Olga and had son Svyatoslav. (3) Svyatoslav I, Prince of Kiev, born about 900. Died after 960. Son of Igor and Olga. Associated with Malusha, a concubine, and had son Vladimir. (4) St.Vladimir, "the Great", Prince of Kiev, born 960. Died July 15th, 1015 in Kiev, Ukraine. Son of Svyatoslav and Malusha. Married Rogneda von Polotzk and had son Yaroslav. (5) Yaroslav I, Prince of Kiev, born 978, died February 20th, 1058. Son of Vladimir and Rogneda. Married Ingigred Olafssdottir of Sweden and had daughter Anne. Note: Henri I, not a particularily memorable monarch in his own right, is remembered more for the novelty of his second marriage than anything else. After the death of his first wife, Matilda of Germany, he cast far affield for a new one -- all the way to the Ukraine. -- Jessica
