Red Cape Battle Costume

This is Sakura's very first battle costume! Tomoyo choose very bold colors for her first effort, which helped Sakura stand out well in the dark of night as she battled The Shadow in the school's playground late at night.

The base for this outfit is a longsleeved, navy bodysuit. Over this, Tomoyo has placed a white vest. The vest has tails, much like an elegant tuxedo. It is cut short in front and then begins a quick and graceful line to the long tails. The edges of the vest, as well as its pockets, are detailed with gold.

Matching the body suit are thigh high socks in the same navy color. To match the vest, Tomoyo choose a pair of white gloves with puffed wrists.

Catching the eye with its boldness is a brilliant red cape. Cut into sharp, long triangles along the hem, the angles are offset by a poofy bow which ties around Sakura's neck. Running down the back of the cape are a pair of navy straps finished with gold buckles.

Atop Sakura's head is a cape that is similar to her school hat. The large, circular part of it is the same red as the cape. The band which holds it to Sakura's head is navy like her socks and bodysuit.

Finally, Sakura wears a pair of ankle high boots in white and red to coordinate with the rest of her outfit.

The Jester Costume

While the burgular costume worn in The Silent episode looks like a harlequin, this costume is more similar to a traditional jester's outfit. It was featured in the episode where Sakura captured The Watery. Its spilt skirt looked particularly entracing as Sakura raced through the halls of the aquarium on her wand. It is also one of my favorite costumes.

This outfit consists of only three colors. The hat, shoes, gloves and the underpart of the dress are all in navy blue. The main part of the dress contrasts with a stark white. Golden bells and detailing stones on the hat accent the outfit supurbly.

The navy hat is long and features spilt tails which trail down her back and end in points capped with bells. A white rim is folded up around Sakura's head and boasts a golden stone on either side which matches the hue of the bells on the costume. Her dress is sleeveless and its skirt is spilt into similar points from the waist. Those to the front of the outfit are shorter than those at the back, but all are finished with golden bells. Navy gloves which match her hat and shoes go up her arms well past her elbows. The gloves are the only part of her outfit which do not have bells. Her shoes are mid calf high boots with pointed toes that are again finished by the bells. Like the hat and the ribbon spilt skirt, the shoes are very evocative of the jester theme.

The Cat Costume

For all that this costume appears to be constructed of pink taffeta, is it in fact created from rubber. This proves to be of great foresight on the part of Tomoyo, as this outfit appears in the episode in which Sakura first encounters Syaoran chasing Clow Cards. The card they pursue is The Thunder and the rubber make up of costume is intended to protect Sakura from the dangerous lightening.

Mainly pink and black, there is a subtle decor to the ensemble meant to resemble, in part, a cat. The headband fetures a pair of cat ears, black on the back and pink on the inner front. Tomoyo has also brought back the bells which played a major role on the jester costume, placing a very large one as a pendant at the base of Sakura's neck and another pair at the tips of a the bow tails on the back of the skirt.

The key word for this outfit is Ruffles. They abound. A sleek body suit of black covers most of Sakura's body, but over it is place a large ruffled dress. A pair of dark pink twin ruffles make second sleeves which reach from her shoulders and are cut down to her waist. Their width is small, thankfully, so they avoid completely overbalancing the sleek black. The skirt is of the same material as the sleeves and is layered to give it a very bouyant look. The first layer is in a very soft, light pink tone. The second is a balancing black. The third and uppermost layer is again the dark pink. It is connect to the sleeve ruffles by a bib like waistline on the dress. In the back of the outfit, there is a massive dark pink bow which ties at Sakura's waist. Just below the skirts, a long, black feline tail protrudes to remphasis the cat theme Tomoyo is working with.

Like all suits, there are matching shoes. This time they are again mid calf length boots whose colors repeat the dark pink and black found in the dress. The upper boot is the dark pink and buttons up the side with matching buttons. The lower portion, that covering the lower part foot itself, is done in black.

This costume is another of my favorties. Sakura just looks so cute as a cat.

The Bat Burgular Costume

What do you wear when you're sneaking into a guarded musuem during the late hours of the night? Something that looks like a cat burgular? But what if you're a magical girl? Why you put a new take on an old convention.

And that's just what Tomoyo did. She changed one letter and we ended up with what I like to call the Bat Burgular outfit. Sakura wears this costume when she is attempting to capture The Silent.

The outfit is form-fitting and seems to be made of a lycra type material to allow for great freedom of motion (great for when you have suddenly climb through a tight space to avoid detection). The main color is a dark greeny teal (though some pictures show it as being dark blue) , highlighted by just slightly lighter diamonds of bright blue which are somewhat reminiscent of a harlequin.

The top is cropped short, revealing some of Sakura's stomach. Part of her thighs and her knees are also visible because of the short shorts. The rest of her legs are covered by high boots. This effect is what evokes the magical girl aura in the outfit, as without a showing of some skin it would hardly qualify as proper, now would it?

Tomoyo tops off the outfit by adding a pair of bat wings to the top's back and giving Sakura a matching hat. Gloves are added, though they are simply for effect rather than use because they lack fingers. As a result, Sakura will leave fingerprints on whatever she touches. Not much of a burgular convention, now is it? But I Do like the gloves. ^-^

Tomoyo (Madison) probably thought that the bat wings on the back would make it more of a burgular costume, since bats wake at night and burgulars come out at night also.

The Space Cadet Costume

Tomoyo's design for this costume is very futuristic. I see Sakura jumping across the moon in low-g's when look at it. At first, I thought it was made of rubber, but according to Kero-chan the material is actually more of an elastic than rubber.

Worn when capturing two cards (though in the same episode), this costume is connected to both The Wood and The Rain. In particular, it climbing through the branches of The Wood look particularly difficult. Kero-chan says that its material actually made this activity very easy. I suppose we'll have to take his word for it. Like the Saiyan uniforms in Dragon ball.

This time, Tomoyo has chosen to work in pink, white and accent it with a little of yellow. Beginning from the top, a pink head band carrying a pair of large white wings provides a kind of helmet for our heroine.

The body of her dress is a bright pink with a flared skirt. Its sleeves are long and white, padded at the shoulder with dual poofs of fabric and a singluar poof at the wrists. On the side of her sleeves, just below the shoulder is a large yellow dot as an accent. At her hemline, another pair of white poofs add to the UFO like look of the dress. Sakura wears bright white tights with the dress.

Tomoyo provided Sakura with gloves for this outfit. They are mainly white, but the back of the hand is protected by a thick pink piece which is accented by another yellow dot which is placed towards the thumbs.

Once again, the shoes are specially designed for the outfit. They are the mid calf boots either Sakura or Tomoyo (I'm not sure which of them is responsible) seems to prefer. Mostly white in color, each boot boasts a wide band of pink just around the ankle and a pink toe.

This outfit goes very well with the sealing wand, matching in color and both being accented by Sakura's signature wing shape.

The Fairy Costume

This costume made its first appearance in the episode featuring The Shield . Tomoyo showed it to Sakura, but Sakura did not wear it in that episode. It was worn in the next, when she was trying to capture The Time card. Because it took her so many tries to capture the card, this costume was worn three times. This makes it a very unusual costume for the series, since it appeared in more than one episode and Sakura wore it more than once.

One of the most interesting aspects of this outfit are the green wings on the back. They're slightly reminiscent of the wings which appeared on some of Sailormoon's transformations, though not as large. During Kero-chan's Corner, Kero points out that removing the wings would turn this costume into a cute summer outfit.

Tomoyo used repeating darker yellow scrunchies to unite the outfit. You can see that she has matching armbands on her midarms and wrists which coordinate with the pompoms on her shoes and the bands in her hair. Sakura is also wearing a necklace of the same color.

The Song Costume

This costume is pink. There's no way around it. It's ruffly and pink. Theres a little creamy color.

The dominant costume here is overwhelmingly pink, there is a touch of cream, black and a lovely perwinkle used in its construction. The perwinkle, which forms a ruffled underskirt is the most noticable of the other colors. The skirt of the pink dress is cut open in the front and is an inch or two shorter to display the periwinkle to full advantage. The underskirt also has a unique scalloped cut to its hem. That touch brings out personality in the outfit, and is something I especially like about it.

The upperpart of the dress is cut to be formfitting and has long sleeves. A black eighth note is emblazoned on the chest. Surrounding the neck is large cream colored collar, which is cut in the front at the same angle and fashion of the skirt's cut. The effect matches quite nicely. Cream colored gloves with wide wrists that reach a few inches up Sakura's arms complement the collar.

A large pink hat, of almost the same fashion as Sakura's school uniform hat, tops the outfit. Visible on the right front side of the hat is another black eighth note. Both of the notes were highly appropriate, because this costume appeared in the episode where Sakura was chasing The Song.

Completing the outfit is a pair of pink shoes, which are also similar in fashion to her school shoes. The main difference is that the buckle strap is placed towards the back of the shoe and wraps around her ankle rather than crossing over the bridge of her foot. I don't Like her shoes in this outfit.

The Pastel Bunny Costume

This costume bears the distinction, unfortunate as it is, of being the only costume which was not worn when Sakura successfully captured a card. It is also, however, the only costume Yukito has washed for Sakura. Perhaps that's why it wasn't worn a second time. Whatever the reason, it only made a brief appearance as Sakura made her first attempt to capture The Illusion.

Tomoyo was very obviously working off of a bunny theme for this costume. It's evident in the pink and white bunny ears atop Sakura's head and in the massive yellow fluffy tail on Sakura's backside.

The main portion of the outfit is made up of a soft pink shorts outfit. It has three-quarter length puffed sleeves and a high chinese-style collared neck. Running down its front are four yellow puff balls which match the fluffy tail on the reverse side.

Fingerless gloves in periwinkle reach almost to Sakura's elbows. They are tight fitting, in contrast to the puffy sleeves. Her slipper shoes are of the same color as the gloves. Her tights are a simple yellowy cream, which doesn't specifically match anything else in the outfit but which goes well with the pink and blue colors Tomoyo chose. At the toes, each bears a single yellow puffball like those running down the front of the outfit.

This kinda looks like bunny PJs, see if u took off some parts it would be great for a PJ.

The Green Jester Costume

This costume shows up as Sakura and Tomoyo are chasing The Dash. The card darts through a park and the girls pursue. Hearing voices, they ducked behind a bush. But too late, for a stranger has spotted them. She comments on how strangely one of the girls was dressed -- meaning Sakura's costume of course.

The theme for this costume seems to be another take on the idea of a Jester, though it also looks rather like a rabbit costume as well. If it weren't for the fact that the costume is made of orange and green.

Yellow is a key accent color here, outlining the gloves, the hat rim, the vest, the top of her boots and the boot buckles. Sakura wears long green socks with her short cut boots in constrating orange. Green buckles accent the orange boots. The costume itself consists of three major pieces. A body suit of light green matched with a pair of very short shorts in the same green which are folded into a cuffs. Over this is a large, stylistically cut vest.

The vest is cut into long, sharp, triangular edges at the hem. At the longest point they reach to Sakura's knees, while the shortest edge of the hem is at her hips. The front of her vest is cut up to her stomach and clasped at two points with large green buttons. The shoulders are puffed into thick rims to accent the long, light green sleeves of the bodysuit. Dark green gloves provide a counter to the collision of these colors.

Sakura's hat is a major focal point of the outfit, and goes well with the daring cut of her vest. It is cut in a large, puffy version of a jester's cap. Much like if one took the more classic version and made it from marshmallow. The majority of the hat is made of the same light green as her socks, shorts and bodysuit. The wide band which sits closest to the head is the same orange as her vest. It is outlined in yellow and has a green button like those on her vest.

The Alice In Wonderland Costume

I wonder if CLAMP watches Disney or if they read Lewis Carroll? Because this costume certainly looks as though it's right from the pages of Alice in Wonderland, doesn't it? Not to mention the inherent appropriateness of the reference, since this outfit appears in the episode where Sakura is shrunk to the size of a bug while she is chasing The Little.

Whatever the inspiration, we have what is a basically normal long sleeved blue dress. Its shoulders are puffed and it has wide cream wristcuffs. A creamy yellow, two pointed collar is also used. Underneath the dress is a large while petticoat and covering it is a crisp white apron which ties into a huge white bow in the back. To allow for the puffed sleeves on the dress, the shoulders on the apron are also puffed up.

Tomoyo has outfitted Sakura with both a pair of knee length ruffled white knickers and kneehigh cream colored socks. Sakura's shoes match her school shoes almost perfectly, the only difference being their color which is a gentle periwinkle.

According to Kero-chan, the finishing touch on this outfit, as well as its most outstanding feature, is the large pink bow on top of Sakura's head.

The Pink and puffy costume

To be honest, I can't think of what else to call this costume. It's pink and poofed and not much else. It is too pink. It did, however, set off the pale blue of The Fight card rather nicely. So that's probably why I can forgive it.

The midsection of the costume fits neatly to Sakura's waist and then balloons into poofs at her waist and shoulders. It would probably have a poof at the neck too, but Tomoyo stopped herself short and provided Sakura with a nice large, cream bowtie. To complement the tie, Sakura is wearing a pair of simple matching gloves.

The shoes are of the same pink as the outfit (what does she do with all these custom made shoes, do you think?). Rather than buckles, this time the shoes fasten with pink bows. How cute! And of course there is the trademark flat hat, in matching pink no less.

I wonder what Tomoyo used to make the waistline and skirt poof like that. Whatever it is, I bet it itches.

The Umbrella Costume

It is a pretty weird looking design and you have the costume I probably dislike the most out of Sakura's extensive wardrobe. It was worn instead of the utterly cute bunny costume when Sakura made her second attempt to capture The Illusion.

This time Tomoyo seems to be working off of an umbrella theme. At least, that's what the skirt looks like to me. As though Tomoyo took an umbrella, colored it yellow, turned it upside and cut out the middle just before sticking it around Sakura's waist. Peeking out from the edge of this strange skirt is a row of white scallops. It's rather a stark combination of curves and points.

Sakura's thighhigh white socks are also scalloped at the top, though at a much sharper angle than the petticoat. She is wearing them with white and yellow boats that look appropriate for either skiing or moonwalking. You make the call. Her gloves also coordinate with the socks (of all things), possessing the same scalloped patter at the wrist.

Moving to the top of the dress, there is a white undershirt over which a form fit waist and large shoulder straps fit. Buckles on thin white straps accent the front of the dress.

The Witch Costume

This costume briefly shows up in the beginning of an episode as Sakura and Syaron are attempting to capture The Storm.

Sakura is dressed as a little witch, which is appropriate since witches are magic users as well. The costume itself uses the three primary colors - blue, red and yellow along with a black accent. Her witch's hat is blue with the underside of the rim done in red. Sakura's cape follows the same color scheme, being blue on the outside and possessing a red lining and collar. Yellow cording highlights the the hem and outer seams of the cape. The cape is not cut in a flat line, but features the serrated edge Tomoyo seems to prefer. In this case, it splits into two large points, one at either side. The cut in between is sharp and runs almost up to the bottom of her short while the longer portions fall past her ankles.

For a shirt, she is wearing a simple, small black shirt. it is offset by a pair of blue shorts that have a very wide waistband. The waistband closes just to the left of her stomach with two small, black buttons. The hemlines of the short's legs are done in black as well.

This costume also features the every popular thigh highs, in blue this time, and coordinating gloves, in black. For footwear, she sports a simple pair of black mid-tops.

Take a special note of the clasp holding the cape. It is a gold wing -- one of Sakura's personal insignia's that you'll spot frequently during CCS. What a nice touch on Tomoyo's part. This one is one of my faves.

The Red Rabbit Coat Costume

This costume shows up in episode 36 .It is so cute isn't it? this was worn by Sakura on episode 36, the snow card, which buried the whole city with snow.

A large red coat is the focal point of this costume. The hood is decorated with a pair of long, upright rabbit ears also in red. The inner side of the ears are done in a bright yellow fabric. Clasped at the neck (perhaps as the zipper pull?) is a large fuzzy cream ball which resembles a rabbit's fuzzy tail. There is another puff at on the back at the coat, near the hem, right where a tail would be on a rabbit. But it can't be seen in this picture. The coat is long-sleeved and falls, full cut, and falls to Sakura's hips.

Under the coat, Sakura is wearing a yellow shirt that matches the inner portion of the ears (you can see the collar peeking out by her neck). Her shorts are of the same color and cut in generally the same puffy fashion as the PinkPink costume.

Sakura wears tights, rather than thigh socks with this outfit. It's finished off by a pair of red boots that have puffy bunny tail poms at the front and slightly darker yellow gloves.

The Fairy Princess Costume

This costume is worn at the beginning of the episode where Sakura, Tomoyo and Kero-chan are chasing The Dash through the park.

This costume again evokes the fairy image -- largely because of the wings on the back of the costume, which are similar in cut to those on the Open Costume. The idea of a princess comes from the crown worn atop Sakura's head.

This is a two part costume which consists of a dress and a pair of short pantaloons. The pale yellow dress has a high neckline, but is sleeveless. A golden tie is fastened on the neck. The top part of the dress is fitted, but the skirt is spilt into two segments which have been cut to resemble backwards wings. Very full, golden pantaloons are worn under the dress.

Matching gloves and socks compliment the outfit. The gloves reach almost to the shoulders and the socks reach almost to the bottom of the pants. Both are done in the same cream as the dress and are finished with a decorative lace in the same color.

Finally, the shoes are simple. They resemble mary janes, only without the straps. A golden wing is attached to the top of the shoe, as a nice accent to the other wings on the outfit.

The Opening Costume

This is the costume featured in the original opening of Card Captor Sakura. It is easily one of my favorites.

The dress and hat are a rather unique color somewhere between pink and melon, but closer to melon. The hat itself is very fluffy and was likely a large circle of fabric cut out and attached to a circular band which was fitted to Sakura's head. There is a giant bow on the back of the hat. The ends of the bow are cut in a reverse "v" shape.

The top part of the dress is fitted and has a slightly scooped neck. The straps are wide and the back is cut fairly high. It is worn over a white undershirt with puffed sleeves, which are finished with lace. On each sleeve is a white bow, placed at the top part of the cuff.

The ruffled skirt is cut very wide... like a square-dance skirt. It is more than a full circle -- if it were simply a full circle, it wouldn't have those ruffles. Thick, cream lace runs the full length of the skirt just above the hemline. Under the skirt is a massive petticoat which gives the skirt its flounce and shape. The petticoat ends are also done with lace.

The outfit is accented with red, which is sort of a strange choice, but they actually found a shade which goes nicely. There is a large red bow placed at Sakura's chest. Her shoes are the same red and have bows on them as well. There is also a tiny red bow on the back part of the cuff of each of those gloves.

This costume again features the thigh high socks, which have ruffled lace at the top. White gloves match the socks and also have the ruffled lace. It is finished off with a pair of wings that are sometimes shown as transparent, others translucent, and sometimes you can't see through them at all.

The Party Dress Costume

Ok, I admit it. The name for this costume is beyond lame. I actually know where it comes from, now, thanks to *gurk* having watched Cardcaptors. Sakura wears it on a trip to the amusement park with Yukito - so apparently it's part of her normal wardrobe. Heck, this isn't even an official Tomoyo costume. But it's cute and unique, so up it goes!

Primary colors rule this outfit -- at least if you are talking primary in terms of television and lighting. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, take a look at the pixels on your tv. Red, Yellow and Green, not Red, Yellow and Blue).

A large, brimless hat is the top of the outfit. It's similar to the hat worn in the Pink Cape Costume. Large yellow flower cut outs that resemble chrysanthemums are placed on either side of the hat.

The outfit itself is a maze of layers. A green jumper forms the base of the outfit. The edges of the legs are done in small scallops and hemmed with a lighter green. The neck is a very high collar which is similarly scalloped and highlighted by lighter green.

The dress/coat which is worn over it has two parts. The lower part is form-fitted over Sakura's chest. The skirt is full, but spilt wide in front to show off the shorts. A long-sleeved half coat in the same brilliant red as the lower dress is the top layer of the costume. It is all finished off with a large, bright yellow bow fastened at Sakura's neck.

Finally, she has calf-high brown boots and a matching purse. The purse flap has a scalloped edge which matches that of the jumper.

The Pink Cape Costume

This costume is the last worn in the Clow Card Arc part of the series. It is wearing this card that she defeats Yue and gains mastery of the cards. That's why the wand is suddenly different.

The first thing to grab my eye with this costume is the cape. It is one of Tomoyo's favored collared cape approaches. The long part of the cape is a basic, full cut. The accent here is the wide collar of the same pink color. It is held in place by a yellow bow. The ends of the bow are extremely long and finished with large yellow balls.

The cut of the hat leads me think it is made of felt in the same color, sort of like a police-officer's hat. It stands up at a slightly outward angle from Sakura's head and is closed off by a large circle. It is accented by two yellow half circles on either side, on inset in the other.

Under the cape is a shorts outfit or jumper (I'm not sure which, we'll go with jumper). Most of it is formfitting and done in cream. Two seams run up the middle of it, giving it that form-fit. The sleeves are also long and are cut close fitting as well. Matching cream gloves, with simple wide cuffs complete the arms. The legs of the jumper are an eyecatcher, because they are very yellow and consist of a double-puff of fabric. The legs are also cut very, very short.

The thigh-high socks are back again, this time in a brilliant purple. They're also huge, because this set is cuffed. I don't know where Tomoyo finds this these things, because let me tell you, thigh high socks are just not in high supply.

High-topped sneakers in white and pink finish the outfit. They are tied with yellow bows that match the one on the cap. Even down to the balls on the ends of the bows. That's Tomoyo for you. Down to the very last detail, she brings it all together.
