The ACLU. Quite simply, I love the ACLU. I even volunteered here with Sachar before I became lethargic and lazy. In fact, for a long time I wanted to be a lawyer for them, specializing in the rights of students, mental patients, and women. And unusual mix, I know.
Intellectual Capital. This is a site I found from a link at the ACLU's page. Nadine Strossen, president of the ACLU, is a major contributor here. This site is updated every Thursday and is basically a collection of articles arguing one side or another of whatever the political theme for that week is. Articles are by random people who appear to know what they are talking about. They also have discussion places where readers post comments. Although I frequently post my comments there, most posters are a great deal more intelligent than myself.
I have a lot more sites to add here but I need to check the URLs. Bear with me.
Rita Hao. I probably got the address wrong because her site just moved, but this is one of my favorite sites. In fact, how I met Rita was I stumbled onto her site, emailed her because I loved it so, and kept up an email correspondence. We have actually met in person a few times but she doesn't live near me anymore. Anyway, this site has two parts, her zine, Nothing But Scorn, and her Sassy page. Yes, that's as in Sassy Magazine, but not that crap made by 'Teen magazine that loves JTT so. No, the pre-November '94 Sassy is that or which we speak, and it was actually a very good magazine. Once. At the bottom of the Sassy page is excerpts of a letter from me to Rita about the new-Sassy fans I met at Barnes and Noble once.
Sachar is a really good friend of mine. Definitely my best Hunter friend. Her page is new so it's kind of not off the ground yet (remind you of anyone else's site you've been to lately?) but I expect it to become very cool.
Ben!! He has a whole buncha sites but this is like his personal one. It's called Random Musings. It's a good site except it has this auto-scroll thing going on which irritates me to no end. If the other link didn't work, try this one.
Sheila Kragie, Queen of Randomness and Dutchess of Confusion, is the one who gave me my pseudonym "Princess of All Things Random and Odd." So you know she's gotta be cool. This CTYer is just one cool chica, as evidenced by her CTY essay. Even though I think she got a few of the details wrong in it. Read it anyway, though. If nothing else it will help explain to you what CTY is, although really you have to experience it to know it.
Bryan is a friend from CTY, and I really like his site a lot. Particularly his editorial, "Schmeditorial". His site is just really cool. In fact, both Bryan and his site are extremely cool. Yeah. Note: I hate the word cool.(link is too zug essay called "Goodbye Cool World")
Haley's Homepage Hangout is (I THINK) the name of this page by Hunterite (although we almost lost her to Stuy!) Haley Graham (no, not Graham of Graham and Ji-Young). And CTYers, it even links to that nerd test. Now, if only it had the purity test....
If I know you, okay, even if I don't, and you have a webpage, send me the URL and I'll link to you. Put "webpage" as the subject or something.
Girls on Film, one of my absolute favorite sites, where the motto is "Chicks. Flicks. Politicks." Seriously, this is like the best site. I highly recommend it. Be sure to read their analysis on rape in movies, it was the first thing I ever read there and it's really cool.
Maxi. Okay, so Bitch was better, and I'm still mourning its death. Maxi just can't make up for a lack of Lisa Jervis. But at least they kept Raw Nerve. (For those not in the know, Raw Nerve is something like Ms.' No Comment, except with more commentary. I actually like it better.)
Blair!!! Okay, so it's not exactly a feminism site, but it's really good. Be sure to play "Gay Man or Eurotrash?" from issue #3 and "Lesbian or German Lady?" from issue #4 when ou visit. They're not as offensive as they sounds, they really aren't.
gURL. This site sucks. Well, okay, it doesn't, and I occassionally like the stuff they do. But it's all a bit too mallsey for me. I am not a mall person. gURL is really for the more feminist edge of YM readers, which still isn't very feminist. But oh well.
I don't think I'll ever know how ZUG got its name. But anyway, the site is all pretty, i can't say 'cool', but they're really great. And except for the Christian section (no, I really am being serious), which I don't read, they're really funny too.
I have so many more links to put up but my mom is yelling at me to go do my homework. Oh, the joys of eighth grade. (Only a week left, though!) I guess I'll fix this later.
