We are the Mount Vernon Democratic Committee . . . .

. . . . citizens who are your neighbors and friends, brothers and sisters, moms and dads. We are teachers, government employees, union members, business employees and owners, firefighters, police officers, and retirees.  We are men and women, we are diverse and we vote.  We are the volunteers working to elect Democrats locally and nationally.  We need you.

What we do and how you can help. . .

ü We deliver and send important information about Democratic candidates, issues and elections to Mount Vernon voters.  We need volunteers to help with this task by working in the precincts and stuffing envelopes.

ü We make phone calls to relay information for campaigns.  We work for candidates and in our communities to identify Democrats.  We need help on the phones.

ü We raise money by sponsoring fundraising events and through direct mail to help district Democrats with their campaigns and to provide literature to citizens to keep them informed about issues affecting them..

ü We have an active Young Democrats organization and they would like your help.

ü We get to know our neighbors and local issues for the betterment of our community.

ü We distribute voter registration forms in our neighborhoods.

ü We sponsor an annual Richmond Report after the General Assembly Session to keep Mt. Vernon residents informed and in touch with their representatives.

ü We hold an annual free Ice Cream Social in September, where you can meet your federal, state and county elected officials.

ü We also have a George Washington Birthday Dance in February.

Come and join us!

Ø   Attend our events and get to know us.

Ø   Register your friends and neighbors to vote.  Then get them to the polls to vote for Democratic candidates.

Ø   Volunteer your time: stuff envelopes, make phone calls, put up a yard sign, organize your precinct, help out in the office, volunteer for a campaign.

Ø   Identify Democrats by joining your fellow committee members to make phone calls, go door-to-door, organize events or hold a fundraiser.

Ø   Work at the polls on Election Day

Ø   Become a member of the Mt. Vernon Democratic Committee.
