YOUR INVESTIGATION:

How many times have your parents told you to behave a certain way, to be cautious in certain instances, to practice special rules of conduct? Guess what? They are no different than any parent through the ages of time. Whether the advice was given now or 400 years ago, it ends up being the same advice.

William Shakespeare's character, Polonius, in the play, "Hamlet", gives, what is considered the most famous advice to Laertes, his son. Locate this famous speech. Polonius gave his son 9 pieces of his sage advice. See if you can put his advice into words that your friends would understand, as Shakespeare wrote in a very flowery language of the time. Try to create a few sentences of your own advice in Shakespeare's style.

 QUESTIONS TO GUIDE YOU:

1.What was his advice about speaking before you think?

2.How did he say to conduct yourself with other people?

3.What does he think of friendship?

4.Did he feel you should give others your opinion frequently?

5.What did he say about the use of money?
