Elvis' Television Appearances


March 5 1955 The audition for the "Louisiana Hayride" a regional telecast of KWKH-TV. Elvis appeared fifty times on the "Louisiana Hayride" from October 16 1954 until December 15 1956. Over 190 CBS radio stations carried the program . Elvis broeadcast other "Louisiana Hayride" shows from Gladewater and Waco Texas.

March 14 1955 "Town and Country Jubilee" an interview with Jimmy Dean.

May 31 1955 "The Roy Orbison Show" from Odessa, Texas an interview with Roy Orbison. Johnny Cash was also on the show.

January 28 1956 "Stage Show with Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey a CBS-TV variety show. In Decenber 1955 Elvis signed a contract for four appearances at $1,250 a show Other appearances were on February 4, 11, and 18 1956. He signed for another two shows which aired on March 17 1956 and March 24 1956.

April 3 1956 "The Milton Berle Show" and also June 5 1965

June 20 1956 "Dance Party" on Memphis's KLAC-TV with deejay Wink Martindale

July 1 1956 "The Steve Allen Show" (in which Elvis dressed in a tuxedo and sang Hound Dog to a hound)

July 1 1956 "Hy Gardner Calling" a split screen remote broadcast with interviewer Hy Gardner. The show was shown on the New York station WABD March 30 1958

September 9 1956 "The Ed Sullivan Show" CBS-TV signed Elvis to a $50,000 three appearance contract. He also appeared on October 28 1956 and January 6 1957.

December 31 1956 "Holiday Hop" KLAC-TV Memphis interviewed by Wink Martindale.

January 8 1959 A telephone interview with Dick Clark on "American Bandstand" Elvis had been voted best singer of the year and King Creole was voted best song of the year. The program was dedicated to Elvis' 24th birthday.

May 12 1960 "Welcome Home Elvis" Elvis' salery $125,000 for a six minute appearance

December 3 1968 "Elvis" (known as his comeback)

January 14 1973 "Elvis Aloha From Hawaii" was a benefit concert for the Kuio-kalani Lee cancer Fund. Twenty nine songs were sung for a world audience over 1.5 Billion people watched.

October 3 1977 "Elvis in Concert" was Elvis' last TV appearance. Fourteen songs were sung.
