What is Sodium Morphate?
Part One: THE MYSTERY KILLER

For many, many years the biggest challenge I saw in trying to solve the Gemstone puzzle was not Chappaquiddick or Onassis or Hughes or even the JFK murder. It was that simple little puzzle called sodium morphate, the poison that smelled like apples and killed without leaving a trace.

There are several references to it in the first Key, beginning with:

April 1961:
The team tries five times to kill Castro, with everything from long-range rifles to apple pie served to him with sodium morphate in it. Castro survives.

August 1963: Two murders had to occur before the murder of JFK, of people who would understand the situation and might squawk:

Senator Estes Kefauver, whose crime commission investigations had uncovered the 1932 deal between Onassis, Kennedy, Eugene Meyer, Lansky, Roosevelt, et al. Kefauver planned a speech on the Senate floor denouncing Mafia operations; instead, he ate a piece of apple pie laced with sodium morphate (used in rat poison), and had a sodium-morphate induced "heart attack" on the Senate floor.

1964-65:
A Vice President of the San Francisco National Bank (president is Joe Alioto) testified before the California Crime Commission, where Al Harris heard it, and hid it in a file folder (story of the Dallas payoff). Al Harris, who later shot off his mouth a little too much, "heart attacked." (Caruana version-revised)

May 4, 1970: Charlotte Ford Niarchos called her ex-husband, Stavros, worried about the Ford Foundation's involvement in the Chappaquiddick cover-up. Eugenie Livanos Niarchos, in bed with her husband, overheard the conversation. Stavros was forced to beat her to death; he ruptured her spleen and broke the cartilage in her throat. Cause of death was listed as "overdose of barbiturates," though autopsy showed these results.

December 1970: Onassis discovered his mistake and had Merryman killed.

[NOTE: While the Niarchos and Merryman deaths did not mention sodium morphate in the manuscript itself, Roberts later told me they were "morphated" and that they should be counted as such. That correction is in some of my notes, but did not find its way into my original Key. I don't know if it simply wasn't in Roberts' original notes, or if I just missed it. - Jim Moore]

February 1972:
In a Mafia-style effort to shut Roberts up, his father was murdered by "plumbers" team-members Liz Dale (Francis L. Dale's ex-wife), Martinez, Gonzalez, Barker, in Hahnemann's hospital, S.F.—where Mr. Roberts had been taken after swallowing a sodium morphate "pill" slipped into his medicine bottle at home by Watergate locksmith (Miami's "Missing Link" locksmith shop) Gonzalez. The pill didn't kill him; he had a weak digestion, and vomited enough of the sodium morphate up (it burned his lips and tongue on the way out)—but he had emphysema, and went to the hospital. In the hospital, "nurse" Liz Dale and "doctor" Martinez assisted him to sniff a quadruple-strength can of aerosol medicine—enough to kill him the next day. The day before, Tisseront, head of the College of Cardinals at the Vatican, was pushed out of a Vatican window. Tisseront had followed the career of the present Pope, Montini (whose mother was Jewish). Montini sodium-morphate-murdered Pope Pius XI; was banished from Rome for it by Pius XII; became Pope in 1963.

May 1972:
J. Edgar Hoover had the Gemstone file; threatened to expose Dallas-JFK in an "anonymous" book, The Texas Mafia. Instead, someone put sodium morphate in his apple pie. The corpse was carted away from his home in the back seat of a V.W.—and his files were "burned"—but some of them got away.

December 1972:
Stephen Bull's secretary, Beverly Kaye, later heard the "erased" tape, stored in a locked room in the White House. She was horrified. She sent out some depressed Christmas cards and notes to friends, and sodium-morphate "heart-attacked" at age 40 in a White House elevator outside the locked safe room where the tapes were stored.

January 1973:
Lyndon Johnson: Sodium morphate "heart attack" at his ranch on the Pedernales River. Among his last words: "You know, fellows it really was a conspiracy ..."
Eugene Wyman, California Democratic Party Chairman, and JFK assassination pay-off bagman; heart attack.

September 7, 1974: Roberts had made an agreement with a friend, Harp, of Kish Realty, over a bugged phone. Harp was to buy a Gemstone—with history—for $500, the price of a trip to Canada for Roberts to check into the "Hughes" Mormon Mafia Canadian stock market swindle, and other matters. But Harp was sodium-morphate poisoned before the deal could go through—on this date.

Note: Sodium morphate: a favorite Mafia poison for centuries. Smells like apple pie, and is sometimes served up in one, as to J. Edgar Hoover. Sometimes in a pill or capsule. Symptoms: Lethargy, sleep, sometimes vomiting. Once ingested, there is a heart attack—and no trace is left in the body. Proof is in the vomit, which is usually not analyzed. Not mentioned in your standard medical books on poisons, etc. A common ingredient in rat poison.

October 10, 1974: Tina Livanos Onassis Blandford Niarchos, sodium morphate-poisoned by hubby Stavros; puked, slept, and died of "heart attack."

To this day, virtually every Gemstone researcher will tell you it doesn't exist - and therefore that alone is proof the Gemstones are a delusion. For example, read Martin Cannon's analysis:

Sodium Morphate. Roberts makes these four statements about the putative super-poison: 1. It smells like apples. 2. It has been used since the Middle Ages. 3. It does not show up during autopsy. 4. It is a common ingredient in rat poison. He insisted on this last point to Caruana in a face-to-face interview.

 

In fact, no package of rat poison has ever listed this substance, which remains unmentioned in any book on toxins. To dispatch rats, one generally uses arsenic, strychnine, or warfarin, none of which smells like apples. The term “morphate” implies a morphine derivative, but morphine was impossible to synthesize in medieval times - and it, too, does not smell like apples. Morphine can indeed kill (as Caruana has pointed out), but one would need very large amounts to use it as she and Roberts suggest, since ingestion (as opposed to injection) decimates the drug’s potency. An autopsy would quickly reveal morphine’s presence. While opiates can provide an excellent means of dispatching a known intravenous drug user, anyone “seasoning” an enemy’s supper has a choice of far more efficient toxic substances. Perhaps by looking at the word itself, one might come to some conclusions. One would at first glance presume it is a mixture of sodium and morphine. Sodium, of course, is found in common table salt (sodium chloride); together the two are vitally necessary, but separately they are both poisons.

The closest I could come in the textbooks was sodium morrhuate, the sodium salt of fatty acids, produced by Eli Lilly Co.found in cod-liver oil and used for the obliteration of varicose veins. It is a toxic drug, its toxin being ethanol. Ethanol is a deadly poison which causes a staggering gait, nausea, vomiting, convulsion, cold, clammy skin and deep tendon reflexes which are no longer activated. It is commonly found in, and could possibly be disguised in a more virulent form, in elixirs, beverages, mouthwshes and a wide variety of products. You'll probably find it on the label of your shampoo.

Could the term "sodium morphate" be perhaps a key, disguised from the general public, but meant to be recognized only by a knowledgeable few? A Vanderbilt University chemistry professor once told me that because of the molecular charge of the two (sodium and morphate), it is impossible for them to chemically bind, just as two magnets of like pole repel each other.

Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary (9th ed. 1962) has this to say about morphine, from which any compound called sodium morphate, must surely derive:

Morphine - Latin morphena, from Morpheus, god of sleep. Main alkaloid found in opium, occurring in bitter, colorless crystals. Widely used as an analgesic and sedative. Very satisfactory in combination with scopolamine in obstetrics.

Poisoning - Preliminary symptoms: brief mental exhilaration; languor; followed by weariness, sleepiness, pinpoint pupils; rapid, forcible pulse which becomes slow and feeble. Respiration slow and shallow. Unconcsciousness, from which patient may be aroused with difficulty. Muscles become relaxed; reflexes diminished; temperature low; skin pale, cold and moist; pupils dilated; coma and death follow.

First Aid Treatment - Gastric lavage may be administered and 1/2% potassium permanganate or 1% tannic acid or powdered charcoal. Large doses of atropine. Hot coffee or tea by mouth and rectum should be administered. Other stimulants injected hypodermically. The reflexes may be stimulated by walking, slapping or alternate with cold and hot applications, and external heat. Inhalation of oxygen and artificial respiration may be necessary.

Morphine Sulfate - USP. The sulfate of an alkaloid obtained from opium and occurring as white, feathery crystals, incompatible with alkalies, tannic acid and iodides.

Action and uses - hypnotic and analgesic.

Dosage - 1/8 milligram (0.008 gm.)

Drew Pearson's column of 7 March 1967 refers to a reported CIA plan in 1963 to assassinate Cuba's Fidel Castro. Pearson also has information, as yet unpublished, to the effect that there was a meeting at the State Department at which assassination of Castro was discussed and that a team actually landed in Cuba with pills to be used in an assassination attempt. There is basis in fact for each of those three reports.

A CIA officer passed an assassination weapon to an Agency Cuban asset at a meeting in Paris on 22 November 1963. The weapon was a ballpoint pen rigged as a hypodermic syringe.

The CIA officer suggested that the Cuban asset load the syringe with Black Leaf 40. The evidence indicates that the meeting was under way at the very moment President Kennedy was shot. ("CIA Inspector General's Report on Plots to Assassinate Fidel Castro," 1993)

[NOTE: Black Leaf 40 is derived from nicotine and is a commonly available poison for insects and garden pests, in a much more diluted form. Nicotine, in concentrated form, is a very deadly poison. - Jim Moore]

Sodium Morphate an Assassin Drug Since 1946?

What readers (and even researchers) of the Gemstone Files don't realize is that while certain events described in the Key were taking place in the US, parallel events were taking place in Canada and England - and possibly even other countries - on a global scale to fulfill a global agenda.

The events taking place in Canada have a direct bearing on the Kennedy assassination (through Permindex Corporation, a CIA front) and through William Stephenson. Now, most of you have never heard of Stephenson - but you have heard of James Bond, Agent 007, the Ian Fleming fictional spy. They are one and the same. Bond was modeled after Stephenson, A Man Called Intrepid. Ironically, Martin Cannon in his 2001 criticism of the Gemstone Files as a madman's nightmare compared the whole Gemstone scenario to a James Bond movie gone berserk. He had no idea how close to the truth he was!

It's quite possible that sodium morphate also provides another link between the events in Newfoundland and Labrador - and those in America. There was deliberate collusion in 1942 involving Franklin D. Roosevelt to tie the Canadian and American agendas together, as Canadian documents clearly show. (The information below is from a Canadian source and uses Canadian/British spelling, which differs slightly from American English spelling. It is reproduced here in its original form.)

Sodium Morphate (not chemical name) was the drug the Canadian Officer injected into Ken Brown to cause his heart attack. It is used in rat poison and barely smells fruity, but impurities may make it smell like vinegar. It was a favourite of the U.S. mafia, used by British MI-6 and U.S. and Canadian forces during WW II.

The British studied it at Cambridge during World War II as an assassination weapon. Canada's Defence Research Board commissioned experiments in their failed attempt to raise the toxicity of sodium morphate. Selected clips of published chemical reports are shown at the bottom.

Improvements on this Canadian assassination tactic include mixing with either thylon phosphate or DiMethol SulfOxide (DMSO) to render it readily absorbed through the skin. The victim does not always die from their heart attack, and Ken Brown survived and was physically recovering but his brain's speech center had died. It is the most powerful rat poison and banned from sale. 50% of rats and cats die from 0.3mg/kg while the LD50 for mice and men is 7mg/kg. Experiments also show that every survivor of a Sodium Morphate poisoning die from a second poisoning. Ken Brown was bigger and healthier than the average fellow and he survived the poisoning. If consumed it will induce vomiting, which must be analyzed, as it metamorphizes and is hard to find in the body.

Two things identify this as the drug Canada used to assassinate Ken Brown.
1) Ken Brown was seen having a brain aneurysm and diagnosed as both having a brain aneurysm and a heart attack! Compare this fact with the toxicological effects of eating Sodium Morphate “a latent period of 30 to 150 minutes precedes the onset of...anxiety, agitation, muscle spasm, stupor, seizures, and coma... common cardiovascular signs, and the cardiac rhythm may deteriorate into ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation...Late cerebellar degeneration and cerebral atrophy have been associated with suicidal ingestions.” It also notes that if the original heart attack is survived beyond one day, the chances of survival are excellent. Ken Brown had physically recovered, but his brain's speech center degenerated and he never talked again.
2) The FBI kept records of foreign assassinations including Canada's. Although secret, the KGB stole copies of all the FBI assassination records, and passed copies to anti Vietnamese War activists. FBI records of US assassinations were publicized. The FBI admitted to Congress that these are their documents! International records were made public if the USA committed the murder, such as the assassination of New Zealand's Labour Prime Minister. Regardless, FBI documentation of Canada assassinating Ken Brown and Judge Cyril J. Fox have been acquired and will be publicized when best to Free NfLb.

Criminologists are continually on the alert for new types of poisons which might be used in irresponsible hands for committing 'the perfect murder'. Some of the requirements for such a poison include the following. (a) It should possess high toxicity. (b) It should be inconspicuous, particularly in regard to odour and taste. (c) It should be sufficiently stable to survive rather drastic conditions, such as suspension in boiling coffee. (d) It should operate with a delayed action, in order that the murderer may cover his tracks before death occurs. (e) The poison should induce no obvious pathological changes which could be spotted on post-mortem examination. (f) There should be no reliable means of analysing for residual traces of the toxic agent in the body of the victim. (g) There should be no antidote for saving the life of the victim after toxic symptoms have developed.

From the study of this monograph, it will be seen that, until recently, [sodium morphate] satisfied these criteria to an alarming degree; so much so that several of the compounds were examined during the last war for possible use as chemical warfare agents.

The L.C. 50 for rabbits, rats, and guinea-pigs was on the order of 0.1 mg./l. Mice were more resistant. By intravenous injection into rabbits the L.D. 50 was 0.25 mg./kg. (Sodium Morphate) was also found to be toxic by absorption through the skin, but less so than by other routes. When placed on the clipped backs of rabbits the L.D. 50 was about 20 mg./kg. Free evaporation of the drops was permitted. The animals showed the usual symptoms.

(Sodium Morphate) is practically ordourless. When four of us were exposed to a concentration of 1 : 100,000,000 in a 10m.³ chamber, we were unable to detect the compound. Even at 1 : 100,000 (30 seconds for reasons of safety) the compound was found to possess only a faint fruit-like odour indistinguishable from that of many harmless esters.

Sodium Morphate Toxicology Report (heavily redacted).

Amalgamating various other medical analyses of Sodium Morphate reveals the following: Sodium Morphate is extremely light and compact. S.M. amorphs into the active cells' feeding chemicals to become over six times the mass. S.M. is then perfectly positioned to stop active cells from getting energy. Thus the heart and brain are strangled to shut down, causing death. Except for dogs, S.M. almost exclusively kills by heart attack. Since S.M. has metabolized into the bodies natural chemicals, it cannot be found as such in the body of a victim. Rather the body fluids must be analyzed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry to identify an unusually high concentration of one atom.

Such analysis is beyond regular investigation of suspicious coroners, whom would not realize it's significance unless they both knew of this chemical and had reason to suspect it's use. Rather a medical doctor usually just lists the cause of death as a heart attack and no more is thought of it. Unlike firearms, Sodium Morphate hit jobs are extemely hard to prove. If a knowledgeable coroner actually discovers a Sodium Morphate wet job it will be next to impossible to identify how the toxin was consumed and who is responsible.
