Thank you for your recent email to Senator Peters regarding Michigan Senate Bill 1100, the concert ratings bill. Senator Peters appreciates knowing your thoughts on the bill, and has asked me to respond to you. As you may know, the bill passed out of the Senate Committee on Families, Mental Health & Human Services last week by a vote of 3-1. Senator Peters was the lone *no* vote. Like you, he is concerned over many aspects of the bill. In addition to the censorship issue, the bill will be tremendously difficult - if not impossible - to enforce; it puts undue burden on the music vendor; it places potential liability on a local government that approves an act that ends up being *inappropriate*; and gives a local government the ability to legislate what is acceptable for people who live outside of the community. Because of these and a host of other concerns, Senator Peters voted *no*. Unfortunately, the bill passed by a vote of 3-1. Senator Peters will continue to oppose this bill when it reaches the Senate Floor. Thank you, again, for contacting our office. Senator Peters appreciate your input.

Sincerely,
Elise Lancaster
