A Gun Is Easier Than An Education

Getting a gun or getting high is easier than finding someone who cares. It's easier to pick up a gun and sell drugs then it is to get an education. Maybe adults don't realize this. But kids do. In many cities, carrying a gun is necessary to survive. Many kids look at carrying a gun as everyday life. They carry them to school, to parties, everywhere they go. why? Because they're afraid of being shot. Because they want to be able to defend themselves. And people may wonder why kids have to do this, why they carry guns everyday. A lot of people would like to say it's media. But it's not. Media has it's fair share, but the main causes are the ease in which a kid can get a gun, drugs, and the decline of families. There are ways to help lower the gun fatalities, but no way to completely stop it. You can stop by making it them less availible, it's too easy to buy a gun. You can buy a gun at Walmart if you're 18. If not, get a friend. True, this won't lower how many kids already have them, or who sells them but that's a start. If you want to get guns away from kids, set up a metal detector at the doors of schools. It may be a hassle but it'll keep kids safe. Drugs have contributed greatly to violence. So what do you do? Make them legal. All of them. The government could sell drugs, put the user on perscription so they don't have to rob and steal to pay the high drug prices. Open clinics to teach people how to properly use drugs, and not overdose. These clinics can have people monitor them so they don't overdose. This will keep drugs off the street, could end up lowering income taxes, lower the crime rate, and bring death rates down. It might even bring the number of drug users down. And the decline of famlies, well, that's harder to handle. One way to start is to provide counciling for it, at cheap rates to lower divorce rates. If they still go through with the divorce, then try to give the kids, if any, the chance to spend time with both parents. Offer the child counciling about the divorce. And parents could try not to get so caught up with new love interests. The kid, no matter how old, still needs to know that they are loved. That their parents still care. The government thinks they can handle the guns and drugs problems by using gun control laws. But where's the people control? Just because it's harder for kids to get guns doesn't mean they won't. You can't control people, so educate them. Give them places to go, give them places to take their problems. Don't just tell them what to do and not do. In schools, teach them things they need to know. Teach them about other cultures and races and life styles. And just care. The biggest problem in society today is people don't care. They like violence. Someone could get beat up in public, no one would care more or less likely. Few do but most would just pass by. Some would stay to watch. Make it easier to learn, make schools safe. Kids can't learn when they fear for their life. People such as Tipper Gore and other "concerned" parents think they're making a difference by attacking "offense" music. When people write this offensive music, it's about their life. When rappers rap about guns and killing people, it's their life. And it's the people fighting this music that is responsible for it. Instead of fighting this music, set up centers for kids to go, provide the counciling kids need. Many kids would benefit from counciling. Many teen shootings are because teens have been "wronged by the world". If someone had been there to help them, these shootings may have not happened. Sure, this won't stop it but it will help kids, help society. Take guns off the streets. Save lifes. Lower crime rates. Make a change. There are ways to make changes. Just look for them. Trying writing your state representative. Try doing anything to spread the message, inform others. Share your knowledge and ideas. Make a change today.

NOTE-When I said to give kids counseling, I meant more along the lines of making it availible to them. And not have them sent to counselors just because they dress different. Just wanted to clear that up.
