Note-Before the Christian community reads this and jumps on my back about it, note that this essay is mainly discussing a particular church, Westboro Baptist Church, which preaches hate quite openly.

Hate-one of the single most powerful words in the english language. God-another one of the most powerful words. Two words that bring many things to mind. For hate, people think of different things. It could be nazis, or the KKK, or in my case, Christians, the worst hate group of all. And that may be a little close-minded, just like all the close-minded christians that I despise, so maybe I should clarify that a little bit. The christians that I'm referring to that could be classify as a hate group are the militant, hardcore christians who show no tolerance for anything other than God and what god sees as good. Now, when most people think of God, this is just an assumption, they probably think of love. This thought being the product of countless "God is Love" crap. But few every connected God with hate, as in the manner that God has hate. There was always that little Christian saying that "God Loves Everyone". But apparently, this is a lie. "God hates all WORKERS of iniquity (e.g., fags). Given these verses, only a fool would suggest that God loves everyone." This is a direct excert from the Westboro Baptist Church homepage, also known as, God hates fags.com. This page veers away from the usual frame followed by most Christian pages and even insults the Religious Right, saying that "In general, they are lukewarm cowards. Modern day Pharisees. Whores. Self-righteous hypocrites. They spend more time harrassing people who are preaching the Gospel than anything else, just like the Pharisees did to Jesus. Now, I'm not defending the religious right in anyway but you think since they both believe in the same God, they'd be united. But this site goes on to insult many Christians, "Most "Christians" today are Christians by name only, and should be ashamed of themselves. They are cowardly, lukewarm, and ashamed of Christ's Word. They have substituted their own pathetic ideas for God's clear commandments." After ranting on and on about how God hates fags and anyone who accept them is now going to hell too, they decide to state that "We're not saying 'We hate fags' - we're saying 'God hates fags.'. Hence, the writer of the site's FAQ has just codemmned theirselve to damnation. Nowhere in the bible did I recall hate being accepted in Christianity but in this site, they finally seperate "fact" from "fiction". "God's hatred is one of His holy attributes, whereby He reveals Himself as having a fixed and immutable determination to punish the finally impenitent with eternal perdition. You should be ashamed of yourself for even suggesting that that perfect, righteous attribute of God is wrong. God's hatred is not like man's hatred. His hatred is holy, pure, unchanging, while man's hatred is a sinful, fickle emotion.", saying, it's ok for God to hate but you're going to go to hell if you hate. So wouldn't you make from this that God could also be a fag as long as it's holy? This site has justified that God could be everything he tells us not to be. Yet God despises Satan, which from the best I've gathered, treats his followers as equals allowing them to do the same thing as him. But God and Satan are basically one in the same. They both want your soul, only Satan is more direct. Not to mention that Satan offers you "something for nothing", although when you join God, he offers you everything for your love, which in essesence is very little considering it's love directed to a mythological creature which you have never seen nor met. I'll avoid veering off into my rantings about Christian mythology and get back onto subject. My point here is, according to this site the world will be coming to an end when we accept gays. I also recall hearing something about the bible despising mixed relationships(blacks and whites). It seems that religion just acts as a way to seperate us, whatever purpose that serves. But either way it doesn't matter, they are still a hate group, at least this church, and should be taken care of before they become the next Hitler. I encourage you to email this church and tell them how you feel about their views. I think it'd be espcially interesting to if some Christians were to tell these hate mongers how they feel about this site and how it insults a majority of the Christian population, not to mention preaches hate "Because the Bible preaches hate. For every one verse about God's mercy, love, compassion, etc., there are two verses about His vengeance, hatred, wrath, etc. The maudlin, kissy-pooh, feel-good, touchy-feely preachers of today's society are damning this nation and this world to hell.".
