RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT GENERAL OF KIEV, WOLHYNIA AND
PODOLIA 1871 - 1914
The name Jugozapadnyi Kraj (Southwest Territory) was used since 1863 to
design the region of Kiev and those territories which had been annexed to
Russia after the second and third divisions of Poland in 1793 - 1795.
The region was divided into three Russian governments - Kiev (established in
1700), Wolhynia and Podolia (both established in 1795) - regrouped, since
1832, into one chief administration, styled Government General of Kiev,
Wolhynia and Podolia since 1864.
