COLOMBIAN DEPARTMENT OF HUILA

In 1905 southern parts of the Department of Tolima were detached to form the new
Department of Huila. (1)

(1) Like all departments Huila enjoyed the right to manage its own financial
    affairs.
    This right was partly curtailled in 1928 when it was forbidden to borrow
    abroad without the sanction of the central government.
