MINOR ISLANDS : HERM, JETHOU AND LIHOU

The islands of Herm, Jethou and Lihou were possessions of the English Crown. Except for granite quarrying - at its highest in the first half of the 19th century - there was little economic activity and the islands were often uninhabited. On occasion, the Crown leased them to particuliers or companies (known as tenats) __________________________________________________________________________________
