The newly formed Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) will stand in the coming general Election. The decision to participate in elections was decided last year while due to several technical reasons ansd being a first timer, the party has decided to only stand in two seats.

Subang – one of the largest consituency in the country has been chosen as the party’s choice to field a candidate. The party will field another canditate , most likely in the Bukit Lanchan or Subang Jaya state assemble which is also path of the Subang Parliament .

Subang in Selangor was choses as the choice, as the party has done some reasonable work there in the past seven years . The Party has some of its strong Urban settlers and plantation groupings in this area. Work has also been intensified among factory workers.

Initial feedback from the people have been most encouraging .

At the moment, the party is also having informal discussion with other opposition political parties to secure the seat to enable a one to one fight with the common enemy - Barisan Nasional. Three sub committes have already been formed to work on the three state assemblies in Subang while a 12-person election campaign team has been formed to look overall at the campaign.

The party’s manifesto with a caption -Chose Socialist - The Brave Choice is also ready . A ten-point election pledge is also on store for the Subang voters.

The Socialist party is convinced that its people based programme and its stand against religious and racial exteremism and its commitment to fulfill the wishes of the comman people will be very popular among the people. .

It is hoped the emergence of a Socialist Party after some time will give the people a new choice of ideas, a hope to overhaul the existing corrupt system and fulfill the needs of the majority of the people.
