TUKANG TILIK KATA BN MENANG
(Bukan Percaya, Sekadar Nak Bagi tahu)
Analysts may still be hedging their bets but fortune tellers citing stars, numbers and ancient oracles have reached a consensus on the outcome of Malaysia's general election Monday.
``Based on the mystical art of divination,
I predict that the National Front will win between 137 to 146
parliamentary seats, which is more than a two-thirds majority,''
said a geomancer known as Reverend Yong.
Yong, who has been in the business for 18 years, cited the dates
of parliament's dissolution on November 11, nomination day on
November 20 and election day on November 29 as positive factors.
``These dates all add up to the number two, which is the destiny
number of the prime minister who is born on December 20, 1925
and is an auspicious number for him from the feng shui point of
view,'' he said.
November 29 adds up to two, according to Yong, because two and
nine add up to 11 -- whose two digits add up to two.
This may seem a bit of a stretch but Yong also noted that the
National Front won two seats unopposed during nomination day,
which was a ``good omen'' for the premier.
Geomancy or ``feng shui'', literally meaning wind and water,
is an ancient practice gauging the harmony between five traditional
elements -- metal, fire, wood, water and earth.
Yong also said Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and several National
Front leaders were born in the Chinese Year of the Ox, which augured
well for the party.
``The characteristics of the ox are strong, ambitious and determined.
Dr. Mahathir is a fighter and never gives up easily,'' he said
-- an assessment which few would dispute.
The Year of the Rabbit this year and the millennium Year of the
Dragon also portend good fortune for Mahathir, he added.
Indian numerologist Professor M. Raja also predicted a win for
Mahathir.
``According to the sitting of the stars and numbers, it will
be a tough fight but the National Front will win with a two-thirds
majority. They will form the governement again,'' he said.
Raja said November 29 was a ``good number'' for the ruling party
to go to the polls.
``I see the brightness for the party,'' he said, adding that there
was a strong chance of the
National Front making a clean sweep by even winning Kelantan,
the only opposition-led state.
Some 9.564 million people will vote on November 29 for 193 parliamentary
seats and 394 state seats in 11 state assemblies.
The opposition alliance tacitly admits it has no chances of winning
but hopes to end the National Front's two-thirds parliamentary
majority. -- AP.
