Malaysians, Mount Your Steeds!

Tomorrow, April 15, is going to be a defining moment for Malaysia. It remains to be seen if the people are going to come and stand up for justice or if fear (that familiar thing all Malaysians are close to will keep them away).

Hopefully, Malaysians will have heard the call for justice for all and we will see an overwhelming turnout tomorrow.

Look at the world around us. Governments are falling almost every day. Reformists are winning all over the world. Victory in Malaysia cannot be too far away.

The only question is how it is going to come. Will it be through the ballot box? Personally I doubt it. If elections are held fairly as in many countries (even Iran) there will be no doubt about the outcome.

But things are never fair in Malaysia. For all the trappings of a modern and democratic society, Malaysia today is in the hands of a dictator that rivals the worst ever.

So please do not expect change through elections. I am willing to bet that in 2004 we will hold our elections by clicking on a mouse and computer generated fraud will not be too difficult to do.

That is why, if you care for this country, you must stand up and fight for justice. You owe to this country that has been so blessed. With the right leaders, we could have been much better off. Not just materially but also morally and socially. Instead we live in a cesspool filled with moral decay and collapsing values.

Under dictatorships, change comes only when the people speaks. That happened in Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines. That is the only way it is going to happen here.

We, the people, are the real rulers of Malaysia and it is time to show our power. It is time to say, enough is enough.

This call is not just to our Malay brothers but also to the rest of the Malaysians. Why should just the Malays fight for justice? It is our country too and we should be there to lend our support.

The onrushing surge towards democratic rule and power of the people is sweeping through the world like a huge rush of water coming down a mountain river. The systems and excesses of the old world order can hold off only for a while like rocks and pebbles in the river but ever increasing forces will tear out and cast away all these barriers to freedom.

It will happen in Malaysia too and you can be a part of it by turning up tomorrow. There are no fences to sit on. Either you are on the side of freedom and justice or you are a part of the old world order. So heroes of Malaysia mount your steeds and face up to the evil ones. Reformasi, reformasi, reformasi!
