About a month ago I wrote establishing criteria for an honest debate about drug policy in general and legalization in particular. I maintained that there would be no honest debate forthcoming from law enforcement or candidates who dont favor legalization because they were afraid to address these key questions. I therefore maintain that the legalization debate has been won by those advocating full legalization of all drugs for private use.
There will be pro legalization candidates in this and future elections and - despite the total lack of anti legalization arguments - the editorial boards of all major daily newspapers will dismiss legalization candidates as wacky. If legalization is such a wacky idea - working quite well 70 years ago - then why are critics totally unwilling to defend the drug war? Before you vote for a sensible candidate, ask yourself: why they wont defend their position? The silence is deafening!
