Personal

JT Barrie is a father of two children, Denzel and Heather, who attend the Philomath Schools. He has been primarily a stay at home dad since Denzel was born 8 years ago, doing part time jobs to supplement the family income. With Heather entering kindergarten this year, he will have more time for work - with less day care expense. He met his present spouse Cindy at Suttle Lake where they were camp counselors for 5th and 6th grade youngsters at a church camp. He is also a long time distance runner earning 7 sports letters from the Coast Guard Academy; he has finished over 35 marathons and ultramarathons - winning the Crater Lake marathon in 1977 [hence the rimchamp77 internet identity].

Political Activity

JT had been registered as a Democrat between 1972 and 1992 where he worked for many issues opposing government expansionism - like the arms race and crime issues. Prior to Clinton’s nomination he was a member of the state Budget committee; he then registered as a Libertarian. His decision to run for office was inspired by nonsensical bipartisan replies to his concerns about the counterproductive “anti crime” measures being considered by the legislature. Voters would have to be given a common sense choice in this - and future - elections.

Professional Career

He is a graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy honorably discharged with a degree in History and Government.
He has worked 8 years as an insurance agent in a district which included over 200 low income families - often as the only source of financial advice.
He has earned a 2nd degree in Accounting Technology from Linn Benton Community college - where he found his management theories [rejected at the Academy] utilized by most businesses.
He has worked over 6 years as a self employed business person, 3 of them in the taxi cab business, where he could witness first hand how “anti crime” legislation adversely affected the lives and safety of low and middle class citizen taxpayers.

Summary:

JT is the ONLY candidate advocating the only common sense and proven solution to the problems of crime, violence, and drug abuse. While his professional resume is less than impressive, he has more than enough political and financial skills to hold his own with the presently elected legislators. More importantly, his life experiences have involved associations with lower income people whose interests have been mostly ignored by Salem and DC [district of criminals?]. While voters may feel good about electing someone with better credentials it is by no means a guarantee that their best interests will be served.
