look back to the past
East Timor Governor, Abilio Soares remind his people to look back to the 450 years of bitter history during Portuguese colonization on the ceremony to celebrate "Monumen Ikrar Perjuangan" on 31 July 1997. The East Timorese were went to the darkness without knowing the advanced civilization during that era. Since the Indonesian integration in 1976, the East Timorese start to view their existence and know well advance their rights. Therefore, many of the East Timorese demanding their sovereignity and freedom. Pitifully, Portugal still acknowledged themself as the colonial administrator of East Timor.


sugar plantation
East Timor will develop 125,000 hectare sugar plantation in the southern region, covering Kovalima, Manufahi, Viqueque, Ainaro and Lautem. To support the vast sugar plantation, four sugar industry will be built. With new sugar plantation development, hopefully will reduce the unemployment and increasing East Timor community welfare. Those development will be supported by Hutomo Mandala Putra and Mbak Tutut, both are the son and daughter of current Presiden Suharto.

Mandela sent the proposal letter to free rebel Xanana Gusmao, albeit the letter mispost to Portuguese Embassy. Xanana Gusmao was 20 years jailed for criminal offense. Mandela has since met exiled independence spokesman Jose Ramos Horta and Portuguese President Jorge Sampio in Pretoria in a peace-making role.
