Jim Lawson was a leader in a Memphis sanitation worker's
strike when Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. He has
insight into King's assassination and into other political/economic
assassinations. He is chair of the National Council of the
Fellowship of Reconciliation and hosts a talk show in Los Angeles.
He believes a public trial of James Earl Ray is needed to bring
the origins of the King assassination into the open. Like Dr.
King, Jim Lawson has spent time in jail as a political prisoner
and as a demonstration of the lack of justice. For having a firm
grasp of what is wrong in the US and the rest of the world; for
actively pursuing the nonviolent path regardless of personal
sacrifice and for speaking tirelessly and widely about what is
wrong and what needs to be done, James M. Lawson Jr. has been
