Jean Stevens is the National Media Coordinator for CODEPINK. She was previously a reporter for several years. She works to maintain CODEPINK's presence in national media, helps coordinate media for local groups and develops press material for the website and for other media. Her press release of November 5, 2008 declared Obama's win to be a victory for the peace movement and that CODEPINK would hold him to his words about ending war and restoring Main Street values instead of Wall Street greed. She said that the victory occured because of the hard work of millions of progressive peace and justice activists within the past six years who were fired up by change from greedy dominion and endless wars to peace and real/lasting prosperity. She knows that the days of the war machine must be ended by citizen demand so that decency can replace the immoral errors of war. She says that CODEPINK shines a pink light on any absurdities and abuses of power. The occupation of Iraq should end and reparations for its people need to be provided and the losing war in Afghanistan should end and that there should be a diplomatic solution to the conflict with Iran and we should have full civil liberties, a protected environment and all other decent amenities. For being smart enough to realize that you do not make peace by waging war, Jean Stevens has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
