Frank Kratovil is the new Democratic Congressman for the 1st district of Maryland. Kratovil wants to pass a Constitutional amendment mandating a balanced federal budget every year except in times of war or other national emergency and bring transparency to the earmark process. He will work for reduction of foreign oil use and for smarter and cleaner energy sources. He wants to end the Iraq war responsibly, bring our troops home and solve our differences using diplomacy. He supports affordable quality health care for every American citizen. Kratovil would have voted against the Iraq war if he had been in Congress when the Bushies decided to bring it to Congress. He agrees with the bi-partisan Iraq Study Group Report which recommended to engage in an all-out diplomatic offensive in Iraq, the Middle East and the world. He visited with troops, U.S. military leadership and world leaders in Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait, Iraq and Belgium on a six-day trip to see soldiers and their leadership and world leaders from the Middle East and NATO. He sponsered and cosponsered legislation to help get us out of our economic meltdown. He says we need aggressive legislation to make real progress on the environment: farm practices, vehicle emissions, storm water controls, sewage, power plants, stricter pollution laws, effective activity, technology innovations and concerned business leaders.
