Medea Benjamin is Founding Director of Global Exchange and co-founder of CODEPINK. She has supported human rights and social justice struggles globally. She helped bring together the groups that formed United for Peace and Justice. CODEPINK has over 250 chapters in the USA and it released the book Stop the Next War Now: Effective Responses to Violence and Terrorism which Medea co-edited. She was nominated in 2005 as one of 1000 exceptional women globally to recieve the Nobel Peace Prize collectively. In 2006 CODEPINK brought a 6-women Iraqi delegation to New York/Washington DC to the streets and to the UN and to the Congress and to NGOs and to think tanks to lobby for an end to the Iraq war. They have also engaged with Iraq war vets, grieving military moms, former diplomats, an army colonel who resigned because of the war and national speaking tours. They established the Occupation Watch International Center in Baghdad to monitor the occupation and foreign corporations. They also host international celebrations and keep the international community updated about occupation forces' activities. CODEPINK has also been active in Afghanistan and other world hot spots. They know how much damage the illegal Bushie wars have created. If President Barack Obama is not able to make peace it is because he is dumber than Medea Benjamin and/or more corrupt.
