Betsy Markey is the new Democratic Congresswoman for the 4th district of Colorado, replacing 3-term Republican Congresswoman Merilyn Musgrave. Betsy wants to help rebuild the USA economy and increase available jobs. She is for the 2008 farm bill, measures to support small business, improving local infrastructure, modernizing rural telecomunications systems, assistance to new farmer's startups, expansion of the local organics market, fair trade policies holding partnering countries to the same enviromental and labor standards as in the USA, cutting federal media contracts, banning bonuses for political appointees, reducing government travel and using more teleconferancing/internet to save taxpayers money, repealing subsidies and tax breaks for oil companies, consolidating federal statistical agencies, creating a subsidy reform to eliminate the most egregious examples of corporate welfare, reform the earmark system to save money, assisting homeowner transition to lower mortgage loans, eliminating wealthy tax dodgers, doubling the personal tax exemption for each dependent, use tax credits to decrease the cost to students of college loans and assist laid off workers in job retraining, assist small business research and increase its enterprise credit, close the CEO pay loophole, close the Bermuda tax loophole, improve education and health care and safely withdraw from Iraq.
