Mark Pryor is the Democrat U.S. Senator of Arkansas who was re-elected November 08. He is for giving students the best tools for success in an economically successful nation and believes that all students who want to go to college should be financially able to do so. Agriculture is Arkansas's number one industry and family farms should be helped so that they remain viable and be able to use domestic alternative energy sources. More attention needs to be paid to insure that toys and other consumer products are safe to use and consume. The Consumer Product Safety Commission needs much improvement. Identity theft is a growing threat which needs to be aggressively reduced. The Do-Not-Call Registry needs to be improved. With the worsening economy we must aggressively seek to create productive new jobs using advanced tools and technologies. Nanotechnology is one avenue to success in creating the next generation of manufacturing jobs. He is in favor of Community Development Entities investing in low-income communities. He wants to implement pay-as-you-go requirements in the Federal budget process. He wants to reduce waste, fraud and abuse in government projects, especially those related to the Iraq war. He is in favor of low-income tax cuts. He favors withdrawing troops from Iraq as a political settlement replaces a military solution.
